"You mean "the growth, learning and development of civilizations.... scholarship, science, education and learning." that has brought us to the brink of global collapse?"
You're confusing knowledge, and those that discover new information, with how that knowledge is exploited by others; you're condemning a tool for how it's used. That's like cursing the hammer a vandal used to smash your window. Not very rational, when you think about it.
"Or, "the growth, learning and development of civilizations.... scholarship, science, education and learning" that brought the atomic bomb, and the MASS EXTERMINATIONS of the 20th Century?"
See above.
"Or is it, "the growth, learning and development of civilizations.... scholarship, science, education and learning" that brought about the SLAUGHTER of OVER FIFTY MILLION INNOCENT BEINGS IN THE WOMB?"
And again.
Your world must be a very stark place, full of black and white, no room for nuance or the fine detail of human fallibility. Very sad.
"Tell you what, you sick and diseased God-less freak. I'll take the GOOD OLD DAYS, ANYTIME. >You< immoral and diseased freaks are responsible for MORE DEATH than ALL other causes COMBINED."
Science and civilisation have saved more lives than you can possibly imagine. Take soap and penicillin for starters, how many millions of lives saved by those two alone? Plus all those spared, for instance, the misery of food poisoning or having a limb amputated. You're really lucky to be alive now, you're life expectancy is higher than it has ever been in the entire history of our species.
"You freaks are a VIRUS."
Without science and progress, you wouldn't have the faintest idea what a virus *is*.
