[DRJ is debating a gay male teacher in comments under an article on how same-sex marriage affects children.]

Mike, There you go again...of course you can't see that your sexual preference, when paraded in the face of Bible-believing people, will have an ambiguous affect on impressionable children. You have said that it is what children are already "curious" about. You don't see that when Bible-believing parents teach their children that God forbids homosexuality and ultimately destroys homosexuals (re: Sodom & Gomorrah, they are following God's instruction to raise their children in the 'fear and admonition of God.' After their parents have exercised their spiritual duty, someone like you comes along and infers to them (from the position of an authority figure/techer) that their parents are wrong. The fact that you think you are right to "re-educate them" in accordance with your perverted views of sexuality reveals the intent of your heart. You are comfortable turn ing them from the teaching of their parents, their churches, and even God Himself. Please either remove yourself from the profession that tempts you to channel your perversion into their innocent minds, or restrain yourself from inflicting confusion instead of promoting academic education. Please exhibit the kind of mercy on others that you claim to have received from the Lord.

Probably because of the same reason he can't see purple and red elephants in tutus dancing on his front lawn.

Children are curious about sex in general.

You don't see that when Bible-believing parents teach their children that God forbids homosexuality and ultimately destroys homosexuals (re: Sodom & Gomorrah, they are following God's instruction to raise their children in the 'fear and admonition of God.'

And children would have the same reaction if you told them candy was sinful and they musn't eat it.

Yes, I remember that on my first day of school, every teacher wrote on the board their name and sexual orientation. I had a guidance counselor that was a lesbian, and she never said boo about it. Not that she was ashamed, just that, as most teachers see such a thing as a non-issue.

Yes. Children are curious about things they know nothing about. Particularly when a parent tells them that so-and-so group is evil, and then they have someone of said group that flies right in the face of that stereotype.

So teaching that we evolved from common ancestors of apes, that the world is several billion years old, and that the fossil record isn't something cooked up by Satan are all good things to teach your children then in the form of "promoting academic education?" But isn't that going against most of the teachings of God (from what other fundies say)? Or is teaching your children those things ok, just so long as they don't teach about homos? Because you know, you get to pick and choose to believe certain parts of the bible so its ok to pick and choose what subjects go against your beliefes right?
