If this story is true, it's still not hypocrisy. A sturdier fencing is not the same as the 100-foot tall wall Trump has promised (numbers vary depending on when he was talking).
So, no, not a flip. Just flipping insane...
Nowhere have Democrats supported building an $8 billion wall along our entire southern border. Sturdier fencing in problem areas is one thing, a massive, expensive wall along the entire border is another.
Nor have you heard people on the left simultaneously complaining about Mexicans coming here to take our jobs and to get on welfare.

Yes, Democrats are in favor of immigration reform, including building or strengthening fencing in areas where it might do some good.
Building a huge-ass wall across the entire border is an eight-year-olds idea of immigration reform, as it is not needed, not wanted and basically won't work, but looks like it might, if you have a very simplistic understanding of how illegal immigrants get into the country. This is probably why Trump likes it - he has repeatedly shown to have a eight-year-olds grasp of many issues.
