All things are evidence [of God's existence] . Yes AIDS is evidence. AIDS would not be without God creating a world where it could exist. AIDS would also not be is the universe did not exist.

Then "God" is an evil, sadistic bastard. If he wanted to kill the wicked, he should be able to do it without the innocents suffering so, as an omniscient being, no?
...ok, I read a few pages of their disscussion and need to get this out of me, and I don't have an account on that forum.
The logic chain goes like this:
Everything exists.
Everything we can observe thus far has not always existed.
Therefore it was created.
Everything that happens has a cause.
Therefore nothing is created that does not have a creator.
The creator, defined as the thing that caused everything to be created (not the big bang, that was the event of the creation, I refer to the cause of the big bang) exists.
The evidence of his existence is as stated above: Everything exists, and everything has not always existed.
Possible intermediary creators being deemed irrelevant, since the creator exists and was not created, it must have always existed.
If it always existed, it waited an eternity before creating everything.
Therefore, bypassing irrelevant but possible recursiveness (for example there could be another eternal entity, a motivator, but then what motivated that?), the creator must be self-motivated.
That's all you can prove based on "everything exists", and I'll admit that last bit is a stretch. All gods fit this description, as I'm sure does a bunch of other stuff. In this guy's argument, he assumes the creator is the Christian god, that's where it falls apart.
AIDS exists, yes. The universe exists, yes. This is evidence for god, definitely and resoundingly NO.
“All things are evidence [of God's existence].”
No. Evidence for GOD would not be equally good evidence for PTAH, the TRUE creator of the universe.
OR Marduk.
Or Zeus.
Or the IPU.
"Yes AIDS is evidence. AIDS would not be without God creating a world where it could exist.”
Same could be said for any other creator.
“AIDS would also not be is the universe did not exist.”
But if the universe’s creation was undirected, then it’s NOT evidence for any of the gods.
Confused?
