I would definately love to go to this college I believe that this college is the type of college that everyone should want to go to. Ilove the fact that they believe in no hand holding and that girls shouldn't have to dress in a manner that shames them. The King James bible is the best bible to read from and only people who want to live for themselves and not for God would disagree with that. A true christian on a mission for God would not mind going to this college or church and living right and as close to the King James Bible as possible. The Bible was written as a road map for actual christians so people who want to do what they want to do and not do what God would like them to do would not understand the King James Bible, and it is not because of the way it is written it is because many people are too busy living a life of sin and are too busy to pick up the Bible and ask God to open their minds and hearts to the gospel of God so that they may understand what the Bible is saying.

I'm loving the reverse imperative here, as if the place is somehow less restrictive. "Shouldn't have to?" Please. That practically implies normal institutions force girls to wear revealing clothes. Yeah, we and every schoolboy wish!

Man, what a doozy. First of all, if it was written so that only the already converted could understand it, then it's hardly going to help you expand your creepy cult. Second, I gather a lot of the new testament is not so much a cut and dried, universally "christian approved" roadmap as one-sided excerpts from theological arguments that were still very much under dispute at the time. Finally, there's some nice self-contradiction in there; first the book's deliberately written to confuse unbelievers, then it's the unbeliever's fault for not reading it...
Which we have done, incidentally, and found it desperately lacking in reason, coherency and basic morality.
I take it that by "shouldn't have to" they mean MUST, under threat of punishment (and knowing the usual fundie stance on rape, its probably what they have in mind) and by "shames them" they mean "shows a modicum of skin and/or follows curves at some point and/or has less than 5 layers?
Ah, the King James bible... one of the least faithful English translations to date.
I refer, of course, to the many instances in which certain words and phrases were 'redefined' to read a certain way, according to the author's personal views.
The college referred to is also the personal hive of a couple of IFB preachers who were convicted of child molestation & sexual assault.
These are Bro. Randy's heroes, mind you.
and that girls shouldn't have to dress in a manner that shames them
Y'know, unless you're talking about cheerleaders, I don't think there's a college in the country where girls "have to dress in a manner that shames them".
(For what its worth, I don't think cheerleaders are "shamed" by what they were. Christian on a Mission probably does, though.)
people who want to do what they want to do and not do what God would like them to do would not understand the King James Bible
So COaM and his fundie friends all know what a meteyard and a crisping pin and a pannag are?
The King James bible is the best bible to read from
Well, no, the original Hebrew and Greek scriptures would be. But that would take work.
Why do Fundies hate Biblical texts that are actually accurate? Why do they so dislike theologians, cultural historians, Biblican historians, anthropoligists...
Oh, right, because fundmentalism crumbles then. D'oh!

Well, Catholic schools typically force their female students to wear Catholic Schoolgirl outfits. Rrrrrowr!
@Osiris
*cough*
Where do you live? :P
I presume this is about Pensacola. Isn't that meant to be a fairly terrible school anyway? Of course you'll get a nonscientific education in the name of God, daily indoctrination, and be forbidden completely from making any sort of meaningful contact with members of the opposite gender, as if when a guy and a girl say hello to one another with nobody else within three metres they immediately strip off and have horrifically (or amazingly depending on viewpoint) kinky sex right there on the lawn/path/elevator floor/whatever. Fun.
I mean seriously... do these people ever get out into the real world? They should take up salsa or something, that'll be an eye-opening experience.
. . . think salsa might kill them. And my experience of uniforms/dress codes has always been of the threat of clothes that 'shamed' me. That skirt is inconveniently short and narrow! That blouse will expose my black sports bra! What, you want I should have to change clothes before actually doing anything, and look more sexually available than I am until then?
No one at my university makes me wear less than long underwear under two heavy skirts when it's cold, or more than a sleeveless thigh-length unitard when it's hot. Although the latter was one of those post-all-night-paper-drafting adrenalin dopiness incidents, and I felt a little silly when I realized I was pantsless.
What are the lack of options here? Are we talking like... I mysteriously got a big leather cowboy hat for my birthday, and only wore it once because it made people treat me like a redneck? Don't they want to be seen as fundies?
An assignment you were told to write for Sunday school? Then they told you to go spam web forums with it "for Jesus"? Was it a group activity? Personally, the neckties they forced me to wear for church activities in the Jehovah's Witness cult did make me feel ashamed.
Also, there is no god telling you what to do, it's humans who are dictating what they want you to do and not do and impose a culture of shame to control, subjugate and exploit you. This also involves depriving you of your ability to reason and think by yourself.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
