I don´t know what´s worst. Their prejudices against Europe(where people come fleeing from the Biblical Belt), their misunderstanding of the situation(they don´t protest against muslim prayer?, since when?)or the intention of making America "a Christian country", ignoring the fact that Catholics(or aren´t we Christians any longer?)are feeling discriminated?
This is ridiculous, this has to be the most unprofessional discussion ever. CNN should be embarassed for letting them on, not to mention the fact that there wasn't a single atheist on the panel.
I honestly feel sorry for the atheists who are living in fear in the US. I do think taking the 'god' word off the bank notes is going too far, but that is because I couldn't care less about it.
But if these people could only meet an atheist and see that they're reasonable, intelligent and peaceful people, they might understand. At the moment, the word 'atheism' seems to have unpleasant connotations, and such a situation is ridiculous.
Do American atheists really feel that oppressed?
I don't think atheists feel oppressed although an atheist family living in the bible belt would be totally at odds with the neighbours. I don't even think the issue is that atheists are always surrounded by reminders of what they don't believe. I believe the real issue is when there are attempts to indoctrinate everyone in one religious view, and the teaching of those religious views in a public school (for example). It's not just a simple matter of not going to church when there are reminders everywhere.
Yea, see these are the reasons I don't complain about religious services in public, I just openly mock them.
Oddly you'll get less of a response when they can't actually come up with something better than what you said than if you take the polite route.
so apparently atheists are so evil. bullshit. such typical right wing crap. also, in america, i can choose to be an atheist. who says you can tell me i can't have freedom because i don't believe in fake stuff. also, prayer does shit ok. so get over it. religious pieces of shit. it's people like this that prevent me having any respect for the majority of religious.
They took prayer out of school, what more do they want?! Idiots should not go on TV.
Guys, I know the temptation here is to say to these panelists, "DIE IN A FIRE!!!" -- but don't. It's their game to wish unconscionable harm on everyone who believes differently than they do, and you really can't beat them at their own game.
Confused?
