(The whole thread is just hilarious)
(Hey everyone, I have a question...Has anyone on here every heard of David Blaney and Chris Angel? They are people who I personally believe are demon possesed, they do "street magic". I have watched each of them on the t.v and will never watch it again...even though I have figured out how some of the "magic" is done, I still don't believe it is something for a Christian to watch. Most of what they do is humalny impossible, thats why I think they are possesed. What are your thoughts?)

God gives us common sense.. we have the Holy Spirit inside of us.. n i got a sick feeling..

Oh for fucks sake, most magic tricks are just that, tricks. They aren't actually real.
Also, David Blaney? *snicker*
David Blaine is a Harry Houdini wannabe. That said, "street magic" (i.e. small-scale, close-up sleight of hand) is a) where everyone involved in magic starts and b) quite impressive because it appears to give the performer absolutely no wiggle room to cheat.
You want "demon possession" (for those of you who can call it that with a straight face)? Try Uri Geller, a long-standing victim of the "demons" of greed and egotism. As a magician, he's just a blustering, litigious idiot with a passable command of basic mentalism and sleight of hand. If you don't buy his psychic schtick (and you shouldn't), he's quite unimpressive as a magician.
Magic is not simple, but it's easy to understand -- most of it is misdirection. It's not satanic, and it's not even immoral as long as you don't try to pretend it's something other than what it is (though David Copperfield's frequent abuse of camera angles in his television specials of the 80s kind of rides the edge -- it's almost meta-misdirection, in that the illusion doesn't necessarily involve magic at all). There is always -- ALWAYS -- a non-supernatural explanation, whether you can figure it out or not.
If I prayed, it would be for these kids to see through randy's bullshit. If there were demons, randy would be one of them.
So, so sad. (but still funny)
Because on TV you can't fake anything... let alone find a better medium for cheap illusions. My god, haven't any of these shits heard of Penn & Teller? Oh, yeah, I guess they'd be against the commandments of the Almighty Randy! Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. I wonder when Randytown will be opening in Guiana?
Wiki sayeth:
Angel often claims that several of the levitations, teleportations and demonstrations of telekinesis are done through the power of the mind, body and spirit attained through meditation. It should be noted, however, that these claims are only made while performing the illusion. Angel stated plainly on an episode of the Penn Jillette Radio Show that he does not believe in any supernatural powers and strongly criticized those who claim such powers. Simple enough. Too bad the Bro has convinced his flock that Wiki is a tool of Satan.
I once pulled a quarter from behind a kid's ear.
ZOMG TEH DEM0NZ G0TZ MEH!!1eleventyretarded!
Seriously, Randy's brood seems to believe that anything they don't immediately understand (which includes 99% of reality) is the work of demons or God. "The Village," anyone?
I read this book once where this guy turned water into wine, raised some dude from the dead, and fed like 5,000 people with a few fishes and some bread! I personally believe he was demon possesed.
I still don't believe it is something for a Christian to read. Most of what he did is humanly impossible, that's why I think he was possesed.
I'll never read it again. I got a sick feeling.

I don't know which part of the teens-4-christ thread dismays me more -- the ones who actually believe that there's some kind of demonic influence involved, or the ones who know its an illusion, and still think its evil.
You know as much as we like to blame Randy with all this stuff, these people wouldn't be there if they weren't a little off kilter and hunting for a "stupidity enabler"! Of course they get a large dose of bigotry, GOP propaganda, woman hate with their Biblical fix of self-righteousness and hypocrisy.
its on display on one of the manicans..
I don't know why that makes me laugh so hard.
Coffee, that's just what I was thinking. They worship some Jewish guy who (supposedly) walked on water, turned water into wine, and raised the dead--but when someone else shows that they can perform "miracles" without and "supernatural" abilities, it makes them look that much more foolish.
I also do not care for chris angel. I am a backslid christian however I know what to believe and what not to and by no means possible is he real I believe he had to sell his soul to satan to levitate 20 plus feet in the air or get crushed by a asphault roller or go through a wood chipper and survive. No normal human could do any of these things unless you had super powers and God does not give supernatural powers only satan could give false powers to those who believe in him. Chris should change his name to something other that chris angel for sure,
Lisa , dear, listen very closely:
It's stage magic. It's all done with props. If I had the same equipment Chris Angel uses, I could perform the same tricks myself - no demons, no 'special powers.'
Only children and the mentally unbalanced believe that it's real magic.
(Also, according to your Bible, God gave out plenty of supernatural powers - healing, raising the dead, turning water to wine, etc.)
Chriss Angel = <3 (Leave me alone. I have schoolgirl crushes too, you know, what with the whole being a schoolgirl thing.) I know it's not real, but I love escapists and illusionists. I love the way they mess with your mind.
God gives us common sense..
and we smile politely at him and say "Thanks, we'll use this right away". Then we stuff his gift of common sense into a drawer in the guestroom and never take it out again.
This thread was entertaining to read.
So there's "real magic" that is only religion, tradition and superstition. Then tricks like these, that someone could consider dishonest because the aim is to trick. Or simply entertainment.
Of course, some people claimed powers while only doing tricks. Like with some Indian "God Men", an example was Sai Baba's "lingam materialization" (regurgitating phallic objects in public)... And deceptive spiritualists who claimed to produce ectoplasm and telekinesis, pretending actual mediumship. There are books explaning how to do these tricks, a creative performer just has to adapt them in new ways and shows.
James Randi was a magician and skeptic, who wrote some decent material and exposed frauds.
Confused?
