Bin Laden was killed under Obama's presidency, which is something W. Bush never managed. So, no, the Dems are not infatuated with radical Islam.

There are people on the American left who are infatuated with Islamists. You can find them in places like the Kasama Project, the Progressive Labor Party and the Revolutionary Student Coordinating Committee. Then there are those in the media, like Glenn Greenwald and Counterpunch. These are tiny in number and the one thing they are not, though they would very much like to be, is the ruling class.
The ruling class among the European left, from Podemos to the new leader of the UK Labour Party is, however, a different matter.
What infatuation? Oh, I see, you mean allowing them to live in the country and practice their religion as protected by the Constitution. If you're not actively trying to prevent mosques from being built and calling for all Muslims to be deported, then you must want to install sharia law. There is no middle ground among conservatives any more.
They're not infatuated with Islam, they're just promoting human rights, silly. You have the right to be fundamentalist Christian, they have the right to be fundamentalist Muslims.

@#1907406 has already forgotten about their refusal to ban guns after the school shootings since 1764 (yet, guns were banned in the UK after just Dunblane: in 1996 ), their approval of right-wing/fundie Christain terrorism by not exterminating all right-wingers & fundie christains in the US, and the cover-up of the attack on kids in the US , otherwise, there would be a reverse -McCarthy-esque Guilty Until Proven Innocent witchhunt of all right-wingers & fundie christains in the US, purging & exterminating anyone who is anything less than perfect .
