The scientific method cannot defend itself, it needs the Bible to defend it. Empirical, inductive study in itself has certain preconditions which can be intelligibly accounted for only on the presupposition of Christianity. The scientific method, wrenched from its biblical moorings, gives no warrant for its presupposition of the intelligibility and possibility of scientific knowledge about nature and history.
