Yesterday on “The Liberty Roundtable” radio program, Ammon Bundy defended his seizure of a federal building in Oregon, claiming that the Bible supports his militia’s actions.
He explained that the federal government is wrongly prohibiting economic development on the property he seized, insisting that God would rather have the land be developed: “We read in Genesis where God gives the earth to man, he did not give it to government, he gave it to man to care and to cultivate, and that means to take care of it and to use it. That is necessary and that is what the Lord has done.”
Bundy went on to say that the government is violating “scriptural” precepts by controlling land, before arguing that his militia needed to use “shock and awe” to “remove the chains of tyranny and the chains of oppression so the people can regain a hope.”

The government is made up of men, idiot. And didn't both Jesus and the founder of your religion agree that you should obey your government unless an order is unjust, in which case you quietly suffer the consequences? At no point does Jesus or Paul give tips on how to rise up and overthrow governments. Learn your own holy book.
The government IS the people, moron.
Chains of tyranny? Chains of oppression? Would that be the same tyranny and oppression which gave you a half-million dollar federal small business loan a few years back?

In Monarchies/Empires of the time , all land belonged to the ruler. Nobility were granted title and land (which they could then sub-let) but ultimately ownership still fell to the Crown (taxes were effectively the rent). As a result of English common law most English speaking countries still have that underlying principal (all land belongs to the state) which is why Eminent Domain and other such actions exist.
This guy is a moron. But that's hardly news.
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. (Romans 13:1-4)
Even if Bundy disagrees with the government owning it, it doesn't mean it's OK for him to just walk onto it and commandeer it on behalf of a small group of people. At the very least, they should pay the rest of us for it, since we Americans all have as much right to it as Bundy and his supporters do.
I think if it is just agricultural land, the government should auction it off or turn it over to a private trust. Then let Bundy try justifying commandeering it from a private owner.
Well, when the LDS church are having nothing to do with you, where is your 'God' now?!
And considering how nearly $17 quadrillion is owed in taxes by Christianity since 1776, the US Government effectively own God. And with all the M1 Abrams Iron Chariots they have at their command, there's less than fuck all he can do, so where does that leave your so-called 'argument', Al Bundy?! [/Judges 1:19]
Whose land is it anyway...?!
The Government is made up of "We, the People".
Render unto Caesar...
From what I've read, the government charges less for grazing rights than private property owners do.
It doesn't matter what the Bible says, as the US has a wall of separation between Church and State.
Countries that are ruled by religion have much, much more of tyranny and oppression than the US does.
Shut the fuck up, you gibbering imbecile. Everyone knows that the only reason you're still there is because you're too cowardly to leave, because you'll promptly be arrested. You & your boyfriends are nothing but greedy little boys playing cowboy, & the entire world is laughing at you, especially me.
I'd love it if their collective paranoia got the best of them & they ended up shooting each other.
I detest these "sovereign citizens". They are pathetic & represent the lowest of the low. They deserve every single thing they have coming to them.
> claiming that the Bible supports his militia’s actions
"And lo, they shall be ridiculed, and there shall be wailing and lack of snacks."
Confused?
