He's not advicing LovingChrist to pray for his mother, but for himself so that he can still go to heaven despite his mother's Buddhism, while his mother die in agony and end up in Hell.

Absolutely disgusting. That poor sick old woman probably has more love in her than that entire Rapture Ready board put together. I think the board here is being a little hypocritical! By lighting the candle you are acknowledging that it is ok to even pretend that there is a supernatural force that can protect you.
This man should take his mom to the best doctor his money can afford. Of course he probably gives most of his money to some rediculous church though.
I'm actually torn on this one. My mother is very religious, while I'm an atheist. If she were very sick (especially terminally) it would be one of her greatest wishes to see me return to the fold, as it were. I hope I never have to find out whether I will abandon my priciples and pretend for her sake, or make a sick woman cry. And if it's OK for an atheist to hurt a Christian by standing one their principles, why is it different if a Christian hurts a Buddist in the same way?
That said, if all she wanted was a candle lit, or to be driven to the church, of course I'd do it. But I'm not sure I can draw a clear line between what is simple human kindness and what is compromising your own beliefs.

Very rude. I have sat quietly and respectfully at dinner tables during prayer and yet that still wasnt enough for my fundy in-laws. They benned me from all diners after that night because I wasnt showing enough respect. Apparently, you have to believe whole heartedly what some of these people believe to be showing proper respect, and everything else deserves to be scoffed at, and if you dont show enthusiasm at scoffing you are disrespecting these people beliefs as well.
also, christnme, make sure that you do not, in any way, ever offer your dying mother any support, or love. I suggest you beat her with a baseball bat until she realises the error of her ways and accepts JESUS! as her saviour.
Damn those Buddhists and their compassion! Instead of following the philosophies of a wandering ascetic who taught understanding and tolerance of all and told his disciples NOT to worship him as a deity, we should all worship a carpenter who got nailed to some two-by-fours and preached about a jealous god who repeatedly caused wars, destroyed cities and committed genocide!
