I know that there are some people who agree with me but most out in the world don't. There is a lesbian teacher at my daughter's school. Everyone seems to think she is the greatest thing in the world because her test scores are so high every year and shes a popular teacher that most people seem to like. Most of the parents that I know thought I was horrible a few years ago when my daughter was put in her classrom and I demanded that she be moved. If it had been up to me, that teacher would have been dismissed. She has no business in a school, no matter how high her test scores are or how much the kids and parents like her. I got a lot of flack from other parents and some of them still won't speak to me. But I know I did the right thing. We don't need teachers like that in our schools and I would do it again and again if I had to.

We don't need teachers with high test scores, teachers who are popular with the kids and with their parents?
Do we want barely literal teachers that are despised by the kids and parents? Or do we want teachers like Kent Hovind and Ken Ham, who are laughed at and ridiculed by most of society?
I encourage you to read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, baileysmom. You will just LOVE the teacher Professor Umbridge!
If a Christian teacher is dismissed because he or she does proselytism, you are persecuted. However, you're right to demand the expelling of a teacher, JUST BECAUSE SHE'S LESBIAN. Have you thought about your double standards?
Yeah! Popular, friendly and successful teachers have no place in school.
I suspect that poor Bailey will become quite familiar with imbibing her name sake in due course.
Perhaps it's a good idea that your daughter moves class, if she has had a poor quality and disturbing upbringing, as I imagine she has had, as inferred by reading your posts, then she might well be a malign influence in an otherwise excellent class.
Yeah, we get that you fundies didn't give a shit about educational standards, haven't we seen the products of your homeschooling? Fortunately it seems the other parents weren't so keen to raise a generation of retards as you were.
Good for them.
I remember the original thread about the "lesbian teacher". The only "evidence" that she was a lesbian was that she didn't have a boyfriend and had a female roommate. I had an account on RR at the time, and told her that she was bearing false witness by telling everyone in town that the teacher was a lesbian. I think I might have gotten banned for that, can't remember...
@Swede
Not Harry Potter, they tell you how to cast spells 'nd shit.
I'm going to guess that all the teen boys love the idea of a lesbian teacher.
Oh My God! A lesbian? How shocking! I've also heard some schools allow black and white children to attend the same classes! Whats to be done?
I can't homeschool my child, i'm far to busy posting self righteous bullshit on the internet!
What do you think she's going to do? Have hot lesbian sex in front of the kids?
Wait, that probably is what you think she's going to do. Because you're stupid.
Wow. I hate you, baileysmom. I really, truly hate you.
This teacher seems to give a damn about her students and you want her dismissed over something that isn't any of your business? Have you noticed that there's a ton of teachers out there who no longer care about their students? That this one teacher should be cherished?!
Fuck you. I hope they tar and feather you at the next PTA meeting.
Your a crazy nut, how to spot the signs.
Sign one: everyone else in the world thinks your insane and irrational, and they're right.
eg. this person is the best teacher in the school and everyone likes her. She is good at her job and works well with the kids. For nothing more than a completely irrelevant aspect of her personal life you condemn her and want her fired.
Next week we cover that creepy shrine thing in your closet.
tl;dr: "I know that her chosen life partner has NO bearing whatsoever on her ability to do her job properly, safely, and with full respect for her students. But I'm going to insist that she be fired because I don't like the kind of person she's married to."
I've said this many times before but, when you have an opinion and everyone else seems to disagree with you maybe, just maybe, you're the one that has the problem. And indeed, to pick on such a trivial thing to try to get an obviously great teacher fired when we have a virtual pandemic of shitty teachers that just don't care or aren't skilled enough here in the US public education system, that demonstrates that you are the one who has the problem. To summarize: go fuck yourself with a rusty dagger.
...Does it seem like to you she's just as concerned about the teach being competent?
"Oh no, my daughter has two brain cells to rub together! Now I'll NEVER be able to wed her off and mooch of her hubby's salary!"
I imagine a future conversation with her kid would go something like this... "Yes, Bailey...I would like fries with that. Not supersized, though. Oh...and when the total is $4.50, and I give you $5, the change is 50 cents. That's two quarters, hun. Yes, I saw the picture of your kids last time I was here, they're very cute. Oh, and before I forget, happy 18th birthday."
Well, the States went for a "So long as they're straight, we don't care how they teach" policy for years, and look where it got your educational system. You have middle schoolers unable to point to their state on an unlabeled map.
Frankly, anybody who can transmit information effectively and consistently to modern middle schoolers deserves vast amounts of recognition and admiration, no matter who they like to sleep with in the privacy of their student-free homes.
So, test scores, student approval, overall reputation as a teacher...none of that compares to the importance of who she sleeps with.
Your poor daughter doesn't stand a chance...
Not a whole lot to say here bm, you're coming off as one nasty little prick. The justification "but i noes i is right" is so much a cop-out.
As others have mentioned, people are right not to associate with you. And honestly is this all you can focus on? The quality of your daughter's education doesn't even cross your mind does it?
In other words, the teacher you're dealing with is a fair and friendly person who's effective at teaching the material and making sure that students are equipped to survive, but you don't care about that because she doesn't agree with every single thing you say. In other words, you put your own selfish desires over the needs of your daughter. In other words, you are a horrible horrible parent.
So you would have a talented, likeable teacher replaced by a (potentially) bad, albeit straight one?
You- You're kind of an asshole, huh?
Yeah, who cares how good a teacher is? If she's not gettin a good deep dickin' on a regular basis (from the husband her father gave her to, of course) then she ain't worth shit!
</sarcasm>
Seriously, Baileysmom, I hope you only bred the one time and even then I feel sorry for Bailey.
She has no business in a school, no matter how high her test scores are or how much the kids and parents like her.
that just shows how ignorant you are in your homophobic hatemongering and how little you view the need to give our children quality education and promising futures despite such a thing as a gay teacher.
I got a lot of flack from other parents and some of them still won't speak to me.
As well you should. You deserve it. I also feel bad for Bailey and wonder if he/she is horribly embarrassed about it and having you for a mom.If he/she is... I feel sorry for her/him.
But I know I did the right thing.
no you didnt. Your a homophobic hateful witch.
We don't need teachers like that in our schools and I would do it again and again if I had to.
someone please.... hand me a shotgun... or a bottle of chloroform, a rag, and some duct tape....
Subconsciously, it's not the fact the teacher is gay that upsets baileysmom. Fundies don't like competent, successful teachers because that means children are learning, and questioning the status quo.
Fundies prefer their children remain stupid and uneducated, so as to be good gullible sheep.
My former Art teacher is gay. He's married to a man, and has a couple of kids (a friend of mine saw them in the local shopping centre). He was a great teacher - not especially popular, but he made sure we did well. On his behalf, I'm going to have to ask you to SHUT UP.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
