It truly makes me sad at how foolish all these Christian-bashers are. So many self-proclaimed "intellectuals" in this thread have repeatedly expressed the wish that all the Christians would go ahead and rapture already so that those left behind can live on without having to think about the reality of God.
All these people who think that they're sooooo smart yet haven't even bothered to realize the simple LOGICAL conclusion that IF the Christians are taken away in the rapture, then it MEANS THAT THE CHRISTIANS WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG. And if the Christians are right all along, you WILL have to deal with the reality of God whether you like it or not.

Actually, it means we just want you to go away. If that means that your myths are true and you go to heaven, then that's fine by me. I'd rather stay on Earth then go spend eternity with your fickle, bloodthirsty deity.
Maybe my knowledge in the field of "shit made up by conmen and tacked onto Christian Theology" is lacking, but isn't it too late to get saved after the rapture happens? When God's chosen few get sucked up into the stratosphere, that's the last train out?
Hah! You forget the FSM!

Yeah...the "reality of God" is the reason why we look forward to a world of not having to deal with you people.
Also, we are joking. Kind of detracts from your logical conclusion...
I have to say, the "I wish the Christians would get Raptured already" line has always annoyed me for just that reason.
On the other hand, there is absolutely no chance of it ever, ever happening, so does it even matter?

Not really. If a portion of the Christian community vanishes "in the twinkling of an eye" there is still no evidence supporting a "rapture" instigated by Jehovah. All it means is that a number of the members of a particular faith have disappeared.
If there is a God that I'll have to deal with someday then he better get ready for my arrival. This murderous creature has a lot of explaining to do to justify His actions to me. I imagine I won't be the only one demanding to know Jehovah's reasons for millennia of slaughter and repression of Human rights.
Something tells me Jehovah's tape-loop of praise is going to be put on hold for a very long time--at least until He finally justifies Himself to me and several million of my atheist brothers and sisters.

Some sects of Christianity believe that people can still be saved after the rapture. The Anti-Christ will be in charge here on Earth but there will be opportunities to "give your life to God". However becoming a Christian and maintaining one's faith will (allegedly) becoming exponentially more difficult. "Late" Christians are due to receive a lesser reward in Heaven (after Jehovah destroys the Earth with fire) because their faith was bolstered by having certain knowledge of the truth of Jehovah's word due to the original rapture.
I don't care if you were right or not, as a overpopulation control guy, as an agnostic/atheist, and as a person, I just wish you would leave. Go to Heaven. Get.

I never realised that there were degrees of paradise and bliss.
Does it mean you're further away, or have to sing the counter-tenor line in God praising? Seems weird!
Also doesn't the parable of the labourers (where late-comers were paid the same) oppose this view? Or maybe the trinity isn't singing off the same hymn sheet
First: reality and god in the same sentence is an oxymoron unless they're mutually exclusive.
Second: go ahead and get raptured and leave us alone.
If your god, at the time I die, by some strange twist of fate happened to be real, I'll personally lead a revolution against him for being a murderous dictatorial and totalitarian bastard.
it's sarcasm, idiot. Obviously if somehow you were right all along we'd all immediately repent and do all that other bullshit we're supposed to do and the tribulations you keep going on about would never happen because every living being would suddenly know how to get into heaven and would utterly refuse to commit a single act that might compromise salvation in light of the suddenly much, much more probable result (note that Hell doesn't necessarily exist simply because the rapture does). So the anti-christ or whatever would have no followers and everything would be essentially your wet dream down here on Earth as everyone clamored for a chance at eternal salvation.
This scenario, however, will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever pan out though so as they say: Why don't you guys just rapture and let the rest of us get on with life peacefully?
Actually, we want you to be raptured so we don't have to deal with you.
If you've been right all along, that's something I'll have to live with. I am willing to take my chances.
So, basically, you have no argument.
Jesus said he'd back before the apostles had been to all the cities in Israel. He didn't show, so later on it's changed to after the gospel is preached to "all the world". In this day and age, that's pretty much happened, and he still isn't back. When are you guys gonna give it up? If he existed, he was mistaken, that is all. He's not gonna come back and avenge all your hurt feelings, get used to it.
If the Rapture happens, all the fundies will leave this earth and go spend eternity it what will prove to be the most boring party possible. Meanwhile, we sane people will kill the seven-headed beast with cruise missiles and keep the earth for ourselves.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
