By the way, there is a fairly sizable gay community on WKU's campus. I saw signs for their events often, but I missed out on throat-slitting night at the student center.
Just because one gay guy who was a lot tougher than you thought gave you the punch in the face you deserved after you kept yelling "Sodomites repent!" at him and his boyfriend doesn't mean that all LGBT people are violent.

Thank goodness I don't know anyone (and, I suspect, neither do you) from Sodom or Gomorrah; all my GLBT friends are from around here, and would never hurt anyone (in a way they didn't enjoy).

This is a loaded statement. It could be expected that *anyone* would slit someone else's throat if it gave them pleasure (not just gays). He likely meant "would slit one's throat because it gave them pleasure", which, if true, is pretty bigoted.

Sure. They say love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself and "he that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned." It doesn't tell people to worry about who their neighbor is having sex with - except in the OT, where fundies cherry-pick it while ignoring several hundred rules about stuff like working on the Sabbath, touching a woman during her period and the abomination of eating shellfish.
It's fundies who don't read the scripture, except to make up their bigoted, judgmental holier-than-thou minds first and then try to find and twist passages to show that God agrees with them.

I take it you don't know any "sodomites?" See, if you did, you would realize, that most of them are really no different than you. They work hard, care about their families and try to live at peace with their neighbors. Unlike your type, they don't gather in multi-million dollar buildings a few times a week to learn how to recruit people into their "organization."

Yep. Even followed it for about 25 years. I grew up, and realized that it was all shit. And not even the good, fertelize your lawn type of shit, either. The "it took at least three flushes" shit, that just won't go away, no matter how much you want it to. That's generally the stinkiest type, too.
Well, the only Sodomites that have survived were Lot and his daughters, which on the other hand were judged by god to be not as bad as the other Sodomites,

While admittedly I don't know that many gays or lesbians, none of my acquaintance are "meek." I suspect (with no hard evidence) that they equate being meek with being victimized, and that discrimination has hardened them considerably.

Except, outside of a warped few, it doesn't give any of us pleasure. Like most sane people, most of us have empathy, personal accountability, and generally a desire to not harm another.
Yes they are my buddies. No they are not thrill-killers. Yes there are new things under the sun. Ecclesiastes didn't know about radar reflectors on the moon, space stations, antibiotics or even eyeglasses.
Only that it doesn´t happened. And it didn´t happen again, unless you want to apply "natural disaster". And even in the Bible, Sodom and Gomorrah were punished for lack of hospitality, not for homosexuality.

Not only have they not found any trace of cities in the place the Bible says Sodom and Gomorrah were, there's no evidence that there was ever any kind of settlement there at all!

There are a few gay people who are more than just buddies to me. They are true friends. I trust them with my safety, my confidences and, yes my children.
I can't think of any fundamentalist I trust that far.
