[Should Heterosexual Non Marital Sex Be Criminalized?]
Yes, fornication should be re-criminalized. I fixed your statement for you. It needs to be re-criminalized, not criminalized. Same with adultery.

Since this is on a theology page, I can only assume that nick is taking his cues from the Bible. In which case, Nick, are you willing to be put in prison for thought crimes? After all, your Bible says if you look at a woman with lust, you have fornicated with her. If fornication is criminalized, then the next time you check out a woman's ass, you are going to jail.
Is the police just sitting around doing nothing in your country, Nick? All crimes are already under control?
No? Then who the heck is going to enforce your new law? It's hard enough to even get to prosecution for rape; if you're going to add consensual sex to the workload, no-one will ever be convicted of rape. When rape is eradicated, then we can discuss your proposition.
Should it also be re-criminalized to claim that the Earth moves around the sun?
Unauthorized sex is one of those things feared greatly by religious people. Other dreaded things they fear are reality, science, music and the arts in general, other religions, mockery, games and playfulness, tolerance, compassion, honesty, medical opinion, sport, truthfulness, words when used in such a way as to be understandable and authentic, education, clarity of thought, ideas, women, atheism, democracy and freedom.
Good luck with that. The only problem is that the courts are already clogged with marijuana possession cases, and the illegal fornication/adultery cases will have to wait. Not to mention that getting a conviction will be next to impossible unless a police officer just happens to be standing there in the bedroom when that happens.
Please run with this as your platform. Better yet, tell the social conservatives to be honest and run this as their platform. Nothing will make that point of view irrelevant faster than trying to dictate what straight people do in bed. At least with gays, they're a minority so picking on them (unfortunately) has minimal consequences for you. But try and tell the other 85% of the population how to live? Now you're committing political suicide.
So when will the Thought Police be introducing telescreens in every bedroom? Oh, and would you be, by any chance, an advocate of small government?
Of course it should, Nick. I mean, after all, you're not getting any, why should other people have fun?
I guess it is true, the right wants to regulate your bedroom, the left wants to regulate everything outside your bedroom. Fuck you both, left or right big government fuckers.

Tell me who is harmed by this act and I could agree with criminalizing fornication.
The only penalties imposed for adultery are either an at-fault divorce or money given by the adulterer to the cheated partner, not fines nor prison.
Let's contemplate this one for a minute. Sexual intercourse, per this guy, is solely within the scope of marriage. Is it too much of a jump, then, to think that he thinks the only reason, then, for having sex, is to make babies?
If I'm not making too much of a leap in my assumptions, this hits on one of the most fundamental paradoxes of modern religious fundamentalism: we, as a species, are superior to animals (to the point that we're not even classified as animals) and yet when it comes to sex, we are no better than those same animals. Why is that?

Your call, Nickie-boy.
@Ebon
Infortunately, it was (and is still, in some places ) a criminal offense in the West.
@Dyz
1) Not all religious believers are fanatical;
2) The fanatical ones could use bullets instead of using ballots.
Confused?
