The point is this: God doesn't need the RCC, the RCC needs God. Just because it was the first doesn't mean its especially blessed by God. The heresies of purgatory, praying to saints, the deification of Mary, and other abominations, have turned the catholic church into a satanic mockery of what it should have been. Christians have no obligation to revere or accept authority from the RCC. Sure it may have been first, but it also left God long ago.
I'm a former catholic. When I witness to catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member.

the deification of Mary
I need to go to bed. I actually saw that as "the defecation of Mary," which makes the sentence even more interesting.
That said, MrMannn actually has a point about the RCC. Now, he just needs to look in his mirror.
When I witness to Catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member.
From one cult member to another?
Yes,
and all christian denominations (especially the fundamentalist ones [just think of the Parabel with the Pharisees]) as well as the new testament probably also don´t have too much to do with the "real" christian faith from the time during Yeshuis alleged lifetime.
This was rather represented by the minor groups that were successfully hunted down by pauline christs centuries later (Gnostics and maybe even Ebonites [jewish christs]).
Catholics do not see Mary as a deity.
Catholics do not pray to saints. They pray through saints. It's rather like asking a friend to pray for you, something I daresay MrMann does from time to time.
In short, MrMann fails.

You absolute cock. I just bought that Ironymeter, and now it's been blown to Jupiter!
"When I witness to catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member."
I'm sure that's very effective...
Oh yeah, well did you like it when other douchebags treated YOU that way when you were catholic? Half you people at RR are like "Well, I was raised catholic..." and then you proceed to bash catholics worse than everyone else. You'd think because of that you'd have a better understanding of the way they think and feel about their faith, but no. I'll bet most of you lying assholes have never even seen so much as a midnight mass.
The catholics claim that YOU people are cult members, too. Since they have seniority, they win.
When I witness to catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member.
There's irony in them thar hills!
"When I witness to catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member."
You mean, drug their food and tie them up and keep them hostage in your basement so you can play S&M games until they escape? No? What do you mean then? I'm confused.
"I'm a former catholic. When I witness to catholics, I treat them like I would a cult member."
you treat them with love and respect, like Christ taught?
i'm going to go ahead and predict that's not what Mr. Mannn meant.

C'mon! You're so close. Just take those last couple of steps...I know you can do it.
Most Christians accept the idea of asking others to pray for someone. Where Catholics part company with sects like Baptists is in the question of whether one can ask the soul of a dead person in heaven to pray for someone. Neither position is clearly supported by scripture.
Catholics don't deify Mary. In the "Hail Mary" prayer, it says "pray for us sinners". Who are Catholics asking Mary to pray to? (hint: not herself).
If you are a former Catholic, you sure don't know much about your former church! Although to be honest, many Catholics are just as dogma hidebound, religiously arrogant, and lacking in Christian charity as RR fundies. And they also consider you a cult(along with most other Christians), so you are even.
*irony meter explodes*
FUCK!
As a former catholic, I call bullshit.
Mary is revered because of the fact that she supposedly gave birth to the saviour of humanity! I know you have a bit of a dislike for Mary, but can't you give her that?
"heresies of purgatory" - You're on a forum that open admits it believes in the notion of the Rapture. Hello, pot, meet kettle.
"praying to saints" - I assume that in whatever church you're a member of, you sometimes ask others to pray for you, right?
"the deification of Mary" - We don't deify Mary, thanks.
"I treat them like I would a cult member" - See the first response.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
