I think that's very possible. I also think that it is very possible that the church will be in heaven as the 70th week will be under way. If we are still here in 10 years because the rapture has not occurred yet, I think life will be very different for us than it is now. I think home schooling will be illegal in all 50 states and homsexual marriages will be the law of the land. I believe that the only churches operating "above ground" will be those that have been licensed by the state and will not be allowed to criticize other religious groups, alternative lifestyles or preach Jesus as the only Way. I believe sharing Christ will result in losing our children, confiscation of property and prison terms for the undeterred. I think it's also likely that Christians will have to wear or carry an identifier, so people will know to avoid us and employers will not hire us. I believe forced euthanasia will be the law of the land for the elderly, the mentally ill, the physically handicapped and anyone the state considers to be a "useless eater". Wild weather will become the norm and a day without a huge disaster will be a rarity.

You do realize, of course, that not only does just about all of this outlandish foolishness violate the First Amendment and various discrimination laws but that if it did happen it would be Christians instituting it since they are, by a wide margin, the majority in this country.
In other words, your fellow "brothers in Christ" will be the ones regulating your church, telling you what you can/can't preach from it, whether or not you can homeschool your kid, forcing you to wear an "identifier" and so forth. However, if you knew anything of your own religion this wouldn't come as a shock to you at all since Christian sects have been fucking with one another from the beginning with each believing that all others aren't "True Christians."
And the gay gestapo will keep up their 24 hour surveillance of all your activities. Anyone engaging in heterosexual behaviour or not agreeing with their agenda will be sent to re-education camps. The schools will teach state worship and you will be forced to bow down before Obama, who will have been proclaimed dictator for life. The Christians will have to wear a cross and be confined to camps, before the final solution is enacted. Finally, the communist nazi new world order globalists will destroy America and turn it into the United Gay Atheist States.

That's actually a great idea. All the things that jadeeyes said would be great as a book, movie, manga, anime, webcomic, or graphic novel. Like an ironic, religious take on dystopian fiction, except that the persecution is against the religious instead of by the religious (that's why I call it "ironic"). That could be a really interesting novel if a talented person took a stab at it. Fundies would lap it up. And I think even non-fundies would find it interesting to see what kind of future fundies think they're looking at, described in vivid detail. I know I would read that.

The only thing that people are going to object too here is the idea that Islam is inherently more violent than Christianity. Both religions can be used to justify terrible things. But both have some good teachings as well. It happens that Christianity is an older religion, that has had more time to develop. Christian society also underwent the Enlightenment, which was something of a mitigating factor against extremist Christianity. If the tables were turned, and Islam was older or Islamic society had gone through the Enlightenment, it could be that Christianity would seem like a much more violent religion.
