[To a person complaining of pain from surgery]
Your a chick so fair enough...
If you were a guy I would've said 'stop being a pussy and take it like a man'".

10-year-old mentality is so great. I remember making comments like that when we would tackle people playing football. But, then we never took anything that seriously and were a bit self-centered.
Thankfully most people grow up and realize such trite sayings only show one's own stupidity. Men hurt and cry over then same stuff that women do. Men just sometimes want to uphold some “macho” persona and don’t admit to some pain as readily.
Let's cut you up and see how you feel.
And how is this Fundie? Ignorant as hell, sure, but not fundie.
Every doctor and EMT has told me that women have a FAR higher threshold of pain than men. They need it for childbirth, which men don't go through. You might say they evolved that way. Medically speaking, men are the weaker sex. Is that blasphemy?
If someone is considered brave they are said to have "balls."
If they're cowardly they're a "pussy."
Typical patriarchal crap: male=good, female=bad.
@ F
Hmmm, but if someone is being stupid they're also called a dick, so maybe to even it out completely we should call somone being witty a cunt?
doesn't quite work but I'll think about it and get back to you. Or maybe we should just call everyone assholes, which is gender neutral :)
@ Moondog, it's been shown that men have a slightly higher tolerance for short intense bursts of pain, but women have a much higher tolerance for pretty much every other kind of pain (including continuous intense pain, aka childbirth). so all around, women FTW.
“Your a chick so fair enough...”
Odd how you can make giving her permission to feel pain sound like an insult.
“If you were a guy I would've said 'stop being a pussy and take it like a man'".”
Ah. Toxic masculinity. Stoicism to indicate ball size.
I do tend to be pretty stoic. Not for manliness, but because i know that certain things will hurt, and I know i have to suffer through it. So i don’t bother the dentist or the surgeon until after the procedure.
But then, my dentist tells me that my wife is the same way.
So i’d say ‘take it like a grownup,’ not ‘like a man.’
On the other hand, there are LOADS of options to reduce pain these days, and if they’re not contraindicated, I would like to avail myself of them. And not feel any less of a man for doing so.
I always finish a course of antibiotics, but often have leftover pain killers.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
