“ Doesn't Proposition 8 send a message to you activists?”
Yes.
1) The Mormons have a LOT of money to spend on politics.
2) Moron voters have a diffuculty understanding the difference between voters’ powers and rights.
“Marriage had ALWAYS been defined as the union of one man and one woman for procreation”
Nowhere on my wedding license did it mention an expectation of kids.
Even the Catholic priest that married us did not demand kids. He said, “IF you have kids, they have to be raised Catholic.”
"and the raising of children.”
‘Children’ is not part of the definition of marriage. Legally, it’s a partnership. There are certain expectations and precedents connected to the marriage partnership, but not what you’re ranting about, here.
"Activist courts tried to change that definition.”
It’s a secular country. There’s no secular reason to prohibit the marriage of people who are infertile.
There’s no secular impediment to being made sterile while in a marriage partnership. There’s no secular requirement to be opposite sexes. There isn’t even a legal standing that you’re married ‘until death.’
“Isn't that a legislative responsibility?”
And part of the jurist responsibility is not enforcing laws that have no real basis.
"How can secularism override basic physiological facts?”
Are you allowed to get glasses if the physiological fact is that you’re blind?
Are you allowed to take medications to curb misbehavior that’s caused by physiological facts?
Insulin. My pancreas is about as useful as a paper fire extinguisher. That’s a physilogical fact that my endocrinologist pretty much overrides.
Shut your pie hole.
“This is a victory for not religion, but nature.”
Wrong. Some people have the nature of wanting to commit to life with a partner of the same sex. YOu don’t get to choose which part of nature overrides other parts.
