Back when I was a believer, you'd never see that happening. It was KJV or bust.
Er, you forgot the point of the story in Genesis 11:4, Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth."
Oh, and John wrote about premodern usage of horses in battle because horses had been used in battle in the Middle East for a couple of thousand years by then. Helicopters and tanks would have been devastating, but they hadn't been invented, so he didn't know about them. And even though Judea was a hilly country, he did probably know about plains. [/snark]

An EMP event might slow us down for as much as a year, but "reset button?" That's a little overblown, doncha think? And the effects might only be regional, thus limiting any set-backs to advancement.

Of course, the FACT that there are many planes (plains? are Fundies so incapable of spelling?) tanks and Helicopters that are designed to withstand an EMP attack sort of shows how utterly fucking ignorant you are...
1. The first verse assumes that if not for national and cultural barriers, nothing would be impossible for us humans. I like the sentiment, but I disagree: building a tower to heaven would be, since that is supposed to be in another realm. (Of course, the people who wrote that story did not yet have a concept of other realms.)
The learning of all foreign languages should be banned - starting with the sub-dialect of English, American. All Americans should learn proper English, and how to pronounce the letter T. No more Sanna Claus, wanna, gonna etc. Proper English or banishment to a silent monastery.
Fundamentalists should be compelled to speak pre-Jacobean English, or preferably Old English - e.g. Sum mann haefde twegen sunna. Se gingra ging to his fader and secgde.... That way no one could understand them - not that they understand themselves as matter stand now. Their pastors think for them.
BTW, Babel actually means Gate of God. And the EL element is the same as in ELohim, Interesting thought.

Not at all, since experts would still know and understand the science and technology behind human advancement, and books would remain to teach the ignorant. Knowledge doesn't vanish when technology stops working.

Because as long as information is recorded in a book or in someone's memory, it still exists. The last 5,000 years' worth of accumulated knowledge and technological advancement would still exist.
