I can imagine that in the event our personal effects ARE left behind there would be plenty of folks who would make a mad dash for "abandoned" wallets/purses, etc.
I can just imagine how that would feel to be an opportunistic petty thief who "takes advantage" of the ensuing chaos and along with "the loot" they come upon your tribulation Map. Pretty sobering thought.

I thought you weren't supposed to put your stock on worldly things.
If Rapture happens, leaving everything behind, it doesn't belong to you anymore. There's no reasonable expectation of possession in the case of Rapture. *L* I'd totally grab that.
"Pretty sobering thought"
Actually, it's a pretty comical thought, that in this day and age, an adult could be as completely deluded as thinking this.
hey, if you leave with all your wallets and purses lying around, I could use some extra cash. Perhaps I'll move into one of your nice houses you left behind. Maybe one with a swimming pool. Maybe I'll claim that boat too.

PPS - looking at the thing... Christ, if some looters got hold of this shit after the Rapture... Oh G_d... Oh G_d...
It's a Chick type tract - for sale, of course, to fundies.

This unique four-page newspaper contains articles written from the perspective of those who have been left behind after the rapture. A great witnessing tool! Among the many articles, some headlines include:
* Christ Returns - Millions missing around the world
* World Leaders Call for UN Emergency Session
* Many Graves Found Open--Bodies Gone
* Bible Search Proves World was Warned
* Throngs in the Nation Die of Heart Attack
* Weeping Mothers Cry, 'Where is my baby?'
* Panic Stalks High School Corridors
It's a sobering thought to me that there's anybody, let alone millions of them, dumb enough to buy into this shit.

That´s rather easy, if you have read the revelation of Johannes some time.
According to this during the last judgement in heaven 7 seals are broken, 7 times trumpets are blown and 7 bowls are spilled, with each of these acts causing some form of calamity here on earth (like earthquakes, blood red undrinkable water and other things).
Obviously some fundamentalists tried to bring it into a rough timeline.
It seems like the thought of the rapture alone causes orgasms in many fundamentaslists :D
I tried looking "Tribulation" on my Garmin, and the only thing I get is the address to a strip club in Chatanooga.
I guess their map is faulty.
"Pretty sobering thought."
I only indulge in a few drinks a year, but you can be sure that I would go on a bender with the rest of the world if all you nutcases were to disappear. I predict sober thoughts would return within a week.
Revelation 14.1 thru 14.4
"The hundred and forty and four thousand ... which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins."
Only 144,000 celibate men will be saved. (Those who were not "defiled with women.")
It's not technically "theft" if the property is abandoned. But I would be happy to take your stuff.
If you people are entitled to wishful thinking, than so am I.
If the rapture actually happened (which I doubt it will), I along with the rest of humanity would most likely recognize what was happening, and instantly convert to Christianity. Everyone knows what the signs are supposed to be. If a million people suddenly disappear, the government converted to one international currency, and fire started falling from the sky, I doubt we'd be writing it off as coincidence as you idiots seem to think. Until that happens, though, I'm sticking with my atheism.
These people need therapy. Granted, in most of my interaction with Christians, most believed the rapture would occur at some point, but they were pretty much apathetic about the whole thing. They believed they were going to heaven whether they died by rapture or natural causes. The nutjobs at RR are obsessed with it, to a very unhealthy level. Tribulation maps? Rapture clauses in wills? Tennis ball tubes filled with tracts and instructions on what to do post-rapture? Taking every little thunderstorm, earthquake and political event and twisting it so that they can revel in "prophecy being fulfilled"?
These people obviously have no life outside of RR.
Hey, if I was raptured, I wouldn't mind if some random person took my Transformers collection, as long as they took care of good old Superion.
In the event a shit ton of folks just vanish and the world drops into chaos it wont matter. I wont have to work and honestly, in a purely chaotic environment, possession no longer becomes an issue. After I left the service I bought a small firearm vault. (The kind that fits in a corner of your closet)
In that closet vault I have an A-3 Carbine, a Ruger 9mm, a kevlar helmet/vest, a pair of boots and a set of BDUs complete with LCE's. It's more for my own personal enjoyment but when you think about it....When the shit hits the fan, I'll be in the ideal place to defend my wife and loved ones. I will also steal the shit out of any kinds of valuables you putzes leave behind :P
Y'know, I don't know which is sadder. The fact that these people look forward to the end of time with such a hard-on, or the fact that they honestly believe their mere presence is all that keeps the world from plunging into chaos.
If you're not around any more, it's not theft by any definition.
Damn right I'm stealing your stuff, house, car etc. You won't (or rather shouldn't) miss it.
Evilutionist: It's a handmade map, drawn by theives to work out where rich fundies live so they can ransack their houses when the fundies have been craptured.
Actually dude, I really don't know. Who cares?
Hey, you're not gonna be using it. Might as well leave it to the people who need it--the crazy homeless fellow who's always on about the aliens will finally get some nice shelter in your house, the hungry family down the street will raid your fridge and have a great dinner, and I'll get to pick and choose out of your book collection, because I haven't got a library card and books are bloody expensive at the shops I go to.
I'm looking forward to the apocalypse, but it seems to have been deferred 189 times in the last century, and 61 times in this century.
I suppose the apocalype is weather-dependant.
"Left behind" - a world without these fucking fundies.
Now THAT is paradise on earth.
Seems to me there'll be a lot of very hapy fetishists come rapture day, grabbing all the lingerie left behind by gorgeous fundie women-
What's that you say? There ARE no gorgeous fundie women?
Never mind, then.
I'm pretty sure that people would initially react by majorly freaking out that thousands of people had disappeared of off the face of the Earth without a trace -- not to grab all your stuff. First of all, it might be contaminated with some sort of post-Rapture energy or some sort of essence of fundie. Knowing your God, I'd try to keep as far away from anything associated with him as possible. Second of all, do I really want what you have in your wallets or purses? I don't need your drivers' license or the Chick Tracts you were going to hand out. Any credit cards would be virtually useless because banks would immediately shut down the accounts of anyone who'd been raptured.
Do you really think the first thing a person who has just seen a fellow human being vanish before their very eyes is going to think is "Hey, look, now I can have their stuff!"? I don't think most people work that way.
Humans are really poor losers.
THose that realize they’re ‘left behind’ are more likely to burn the remaining effects than to sober up upon finding them. ESPECIALLY the Christains who realize they weren’t chosen.
They’ll be lighting fires all over the place. Your home, your car, your bibles, and the emptied churches will be leveled by the remaining Faithful.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
