Since when have conservatives ever held reverence for anything other than money, greed, war, torture, jingoism/imperialism, capital punishment, racism, misogyny, homophobia, religious fundamentalism and environmental degradation.

Do you realize that this wouldn't exactly be all that difficult to organize? Hell, with a bone saw, a cauterizing iron and maybe a freezer to expedite the cooling process, you could even be alive to witness it.

Nobody's trying to take anyone's guns. The lunatic fringe right seems to enjoy inventing "enemies" they can pretend they're defending themselves against. I'm reminded of that scene in "Christmas Story" where Ralphy fantasizes about defending his family with his Red Ryder BB gun as the bad guys pour over the fence to attack them. The funny thing is, the homeowners "clinging to their guns" aren't the ones in the inner cities surrounded by gangs and drug dealers - people who are in actual danger. They're more likely to be guys in suburban Texas or Nebraska - people who don't want to face being too unimportant for anyone to attack.
Clingtomyguns, instead of stringing slogans together, why not show the world that you are capable of original thought?

Conservatives don't hold any reverence for the Constitution other than the 2nd Amendment. They certainly don't care about the 1st Amendment's guarantees of freedom of speech and religion, and their potential presidential candidate Rick Santorum actually said that the 4th Amendment doesn't guarantee a right to privacy. And their god of fucking things up, George W. Bush, signed into law the PATRIOT act which allowed the government to spy on Americans' electronic communications at will.
Anyone else find it interesting that gun owners like to recite the "cold dead hand" statement which insinuates that they're eager to die in a gun battle?
I mean, really, when you think about it, they think that guns are more important than life itself, and they fantasize about dying at the hands of someone else with a gun. I'm no psychologist but I'm sure there's an interesting study to be done here.
Liberals hold reverence for freedom and liberty, and the Constitution which specifies everyones' rights to these things.
Abortions are not revered, they are sometimes the lesser of two evils and need to be available.
Depravity? You mean like refusing to sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, to refuse to love thine enemy as yourself, or to hoard money and guns like some modern day Scrooge? No, Liberals don't revere any of those depravities.
One of these days you might want to actually read the Constitution.
Here's the basic issue. Either the meaning of the Constitution expands and adapts to the times or it remains frozen to the time it was written.
If the former, then the founders could never have imagined the evolution of weapon technology and the expansion of population we've experienced. If that's the case, the 2nd Amendment is long overdue for re-evaluation.
If the latter, then the only weapons you're entitled to bear are smooth bore muskets and flintlock pistols.
By the way, I have no problem prying it from your cold dead hands if that's the way you want it.

Reverence is kewl. No, really. I love this country--it's my home, the people I love live here and I have opportunities here that I wouldn't have anywhere else.
But you know what's metric fucktons more important than any amount of reverence? Not doing things that actively bring harm to other people who don't fucking have it coming, and ruining their lives.
Whoever says they "know" these people will just hand over their guns are wrong. Many of them will go out and kill cops specifically with their high capacity weapons, which is BEFORE they try to confiscate them, if a law is about to be passed. Extremists were investigated after the fallout from Ruby Ridge and Waco and many said they realised they would not win a stand-off from a compound against the Federal government,and a militia set up like a regular army unit could be easily crushed by US forces and they would lose a lot of men at once, so if the government was hostile to them in the future, they would take pre-emptive shots at authorities in a guerilla campaign.
That is what the 2 wingnuts who shot two cops dead then died- WITH THEIR GUNS- (the sovereign citizen father and son who did not believe cops have the right to do traffic stops) were doing, they thought Obama was about to take their guns. If it was actually passed by government a whole lot more people would do that.
(I'm not a gun nut- I'm a person from a country with pretty strict gun control who has studied American extremists and knows many of them are perfectly serious about dying before obeying authorities over guns, as some were serious about resisting black rights and murdering African Americans and their allies from Reconstruction to the 1960s.

I don't think liberals want to amend the constitution, like the right would be happy to do. Liberals aren't the ones who are so eager to overlook basic human rights when it suits them, either.
