We really should concern ourselves with what God says rather than what we "think". In the long run we'll be better off.

Looks like Bro. Randy figured out how to make the T4C links look dead. FYI to those who don't know, to get to the T4C pages from now on, right click on the link and copy the URL into your address bar. Voila.
Judy, God gave you a brain for a reason, and He expects you to use it on occasion.
Let me put it in somewhat fundamentalist terms -- the human brain is one of God's most marvelous creations. Why would create something so amazing and not expect us to exercise it on occasion? If all he wanted us to do was listen to him, then why didn't he create robots?
The bible says a whole lot of nothing. If you only did what the bible said without thinking you wouldn't be able to grow crops, forage for food, hunt, bake, cook, make fire, fish, speak or even read (the bible). The bible doesn't teach you any of those things, would you forsake those evil heathen activities?
Yes, we'd be better off, like the Israelites during their march in the dessert, during their exile, during their schism.....................and we'd better off living like in the Middle Ages(of course, you forget that the "long run" was the final outcome of those who thought, not those who interpreted the Bible to their wim)

For those of you using Firefox, if you want to fool the T4C server, download the RefControl addon and set it to <Forge> the T4C referral.
Oh yeah, and thinking is evil. Everyone knows that a 2,000-year-old book can tell you everything you need to know about modern life.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that the Bible was probably not intended to be a guidebook for everything under the sun. It's mainly a history and key outline of the Jewish and Christian faith (along with its key players of course), and a moral guideline. The OT was a picture of ancient Jewish times, the evolution of their faith and their moral laws, and the genealogical steps to Christ. The NT, for the few who don't know about this already, was intended to point to Christ. This (and belief in Christ, with all he said and and did of course) should be enough for any Christian, and it makes a ton more sense concerning the times in which each of the 66 books was compiled.
As always, if my head is up my ass regarding the intention of the Bible, feel free to help me pull it out.
@John: Good point.
Once we know what God says, most of us will be happy to comply. At the moment we only have the Words of Men® who claim they're speaking for God, and a long and well-documented history of people misusing that claim for their own purposes.
Sideshow Bob:
You don't have your head up you're ass, but you're sort of missing the point of the OT/Tanakh -- that's how Christians see it, but Jews have a rather different view that isn't quite so focused on the Messiah. (In fact, I think the idea that there would be one Uber-Messiah who would bring the Jews to their final glory was a late development, at the very least after the Babylonian Captivity, possibly even Roman times. That, however, I might be pulling out of my ass.)
So, if God "told" you to go out and kill someone, even though you know killing is wrong; would you do it? My guess would be that you would, which is actually, a really fucking scary thought.
and if god tells you all to kill yourselves in the name of christ youd do it???
Don't get my hopes up like that.
Meh, people in general don't concern themselves with thinking. Better off, my ass.
Why think when randy can do it for you? oh, wait, maybe because I have a brain. She is actually saying christians should be stupid (which isn't very hard for them, considering everything I saw on this site).
That leaves you at the mercy of any sociopath who can convincingly claim to know what God says.
Around T4C's parts, they call him Randy ...
Oh dear - what about all that old testament law? Shall we start stoning adulterers in the streets? Chopping off the hands of theives?
If you believe that then you should be an orthodox Jew - but even ***they*** have given up most of God's laws as given to Moses.
And who's to say what God says anyway? If you're talking about what Jesus said then go for it! That would be most excellent.
If you're talking about what organized religions say that God says, we've had that for many hundreds of years and we're in a pretty bad state because of it.
Dude - please just shut up!
Even when what Gawd says is about as clear as mud, and has been reiterated, retranslated, and flat out corrupted throughout the ages?
Just wondering.
Yes, all hail Big Brother!
Heed his words that ignorance is strength, freedom is slavery and war is peace!
doubleplusgood!
"We really should concern ourselves with what God says rather than what we "think". In the long run we'll be better off."
We are 'made in God's image', amirite? That means we have the same kind of brain, neurological structure, and thought processes.
So we're doing exactly what he's doing: thinking.
But if, as you claim, we're not supposed to 'think', then you've admitted that God is a low-IQ moron. It certainly explains you fundies.
I'll stick to thinking, thanks. For myself. After all, your 'God' made me like this, with the facility to do so, and the critical thinking faculties that makes me the Atheist I am. Who are you to question his will?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
