And the fact remains that ToE, and more specifically natural selection, was a theory dreamed up to get around miracles and/or mystical things like minds and intelligence. So natural selection is the only adaptive mechansim that could (theoretically) cause populational change in a materialistic (aka mindless/non-intelligent) way. Any other mecahnism, as far as I've been able to reason, invokes scientifically unexplainable and mystical mechanisms, as they require signals and self-organizational processes within the body which have no known physical cause or origin.

LOL..yur a dumb ass. Materialistic doesnt mean mindless...LOL. Your brain is made out of material, your thoughts are carried by electrochemical processes..doesnt sound mindless to me.
This guy reminds me of certain archaic civilizations who thought the brain was just "fluff" to take up space in your head, where as your heart is where your thoughts magically came from..or that there is a ghost inside you somewhere that handles your thoughts.
I would quote every single one of your lines and prove them wrong, but I honestly don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Please make sense. Any whatsoever.
Materialism is not strict behaviorism, though the inverse is true. Of course, strict behaviorism is crazier than many of the most extreme religions, philosophically speaking.
That said, I'm not sure anyone can claim to be able to quantify what makes up a mind, at least not beyond conjecture. This quote is really a (rather poor) argument against strict materialism, which denies the existence of non-physical things which includes minds. Of course, the only mind anyone can be sure exists is their own; everyone else could merely seem like they have a mind, but are really purely reactionary. Silly zombies.
I rated this a 1, simply because, in one bizarre way, it's true.
The whole reason that evolution is science, and intelligent design is not, is because evolution doesn't make an appeal to an unprovable, magical intelligent force floating around somewhere.
What makes things have gravity? God.
Why do people need air to live? God made them that way.
Why do plants need sunlight? Ditto.
What is lightning? God smiting patches of ground He doesn't like.
Why are there earthquakes? God's footsteps.
Admittedly, things like "dreamed up" show the fundiness of this, but the writing as a whole isn't so crazy.
You can't do any decent detective work unless you know what the clues mean.
Intelligence is not miraculous, as it is demonstrated every day...in other quarters, anyway.
Ion pumps, laddie, ion pumps!
Uh, no, miracles, deities and religions were dreamed up to get around the fact that ancient civilizations had no idea how many things happened.
...as far as I've been able to reason...
There's your problem, SuperSport, you lack the basic capacity to reason. The rest of your post is your usual regurgitation of nonsense and bovine excrement.
Supersport is a stupid sort.PS"As far a I've been able to reason".. There's your mistake right there, supie, you have shown no ability to reason what-so-ever, so I suggest you quit while you are only a few million years behind.
"Any other mecahnism, as far as I've been able to reason,"
That's not very far, which explains why your post makes no sense.
Was there a point you were trying to make with that screed Supersport?
I rated it 5 because he winds up with the correct statement in his last sentence, but he fails to see why that makes the evolution the preferred scientific theory.
Evolution is indeed a fairytale and requires tremendous amounts of faith to believe. To be specific, macroevolution. Evolution carries weight because there is no other acceptable paradigm in science at present. However, that alone doesn't make evolution fact.
What is fact is there is utterly no empirical evidence to support the gradual and plodding forces of natural selection. If we had fossil evidence all would believe. Short of that that, you'll never convince the majority of people that we evolved long ago from pond scum.
@jim8301966: There is no difference between microevolution and macroevolution besides the time scale. We HAVE fossil evidence - vast quantities of it. Look up Archaeopteryx, Tiktaalik, or Caudipteryx.
Confused?
