The Platypus and Echidna are not clear examples of intermediates at all Joe. They are mosaics

Mosaic? Moses's creation? WTF?!
I'll never visit Australia! First Hitler, now Josef Fritzl and now this guy!
(Let's see who will get the joke first.)

Har har :P
But when mommy platypi and daddy platypi love each other very much, they only have baby platypi. And when Mr and Mrs Echidna decide to get it on, they only have young Master or Miss Echidnas.
Since a mosaic is something whose body is composed of two or more genotypically different cell lines, and eggs and sperm are single cells which could only come from one of the parent cell lines, how is this possible?
(Answer: it's not.)
Congratulations on being possibly the first fundie to have their argument disproven by the fact that everything reproduces after its own 'kind'.
A mosaic is evidently something that can go horribly wrong during fetal development:

Monotremes, needless to say, are not mosaics.
According to the article, mosaics are sometimes induced in drosophila for experimental purposes, I kid you not!
LOL..organism arent artwork you dumb fuck. They are living, sentient, and evolving entities.
Honestly, that was the most retarded argument against evolution I ever heard.
A mosaic is a fossil that has diagnostic features of two different species/genera/families that exist today. For example the later therapsids have features found in mammals but never in reptiles, and features found in reptiles but never in mammals. The reason is that therapsids are the reptile group that evolved into mammals, and the later species had evolved some mammalian features, but still kept some reptilian features. They were transitional forms.
Jeremiah: It's even more retarded than you think. Mosaics are evidence supporting evolution, and this retard seem to think evolution can be dismissed by calling something a mosaic.
See, this is what a mosaic looks like:

And this is what a monotreme looks like:

Thus demonstrating once again, that all fundie arguments can be defeated by frickin Ceiling Cat.

mo·sa·i·cism [moh-zey-uh-siz-uhm]
noun Biology.
a condition in which an organism or part is composed of two or more genetically distinct tissues owing to experimental manipulation or to faulty distribution of genetic material during mitosis.
Intermediate: a form that combines features of two related taxa.
Mosaic: an organism made up of several genotypes.
It's pretty much impossible for a mosaic to breed true, since the reproductive cells will only represent one of the genotypes.
I don't think aussiedave here is using the term "mosaic" in its strict biological sense.
He probably means "The Platypus has the bill and egg-laying powers of a duck, tacked on to the body of a beaver."
I don't think he gets the whole parallel-evolution thing with the duck-bill, or the notion that intermediate forms don't have to look like Terminator 2 morphing.
Mosaics? Like a crocoduck? Tell you what: mosaics like the crocoduck or the cateagle will instantly disprove evolution for all time.
Now get out there Fundies!!! Find the Octokitten!
Of course a creator god would not be constrained by such things, so they should be abundant in nature.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
