Peace through strength.
Yes, that's working so well in the middle east right now isn't it?
You assume that our military is built up to attack other countries
When all you have is a really big hammer, then everything is a nail/
Our military is strong to avert war. Ever consider that?
It's not the job of a military to prevent war, that's the job of the diplomats, and how is a strong military averting war if it's engaging in pre-emptive warfare
The "turn the other cheek" defense. Perhaps you can realistically apply that to Iraq....to Afghanistan for us????
There was no need to turn the other cheek as niether of those countries attacked the US.
So you believe that after 9/11 we should have done nothing?
No I don't, the 9/11 attacks were a criminal action, and should have been treated as such, there are numerous law enforcment bodies both national and international that were just as if not more capable than the military. The Taliban offered to turn Usama bin Laden over to the american government, all the asked for in return was evidence of his involvment in 9/11. Our response was to bomb the shit out of them.
Have you ever been caught for speeding? Have you asked the police man to turn the other cheek?
That's a horrible analogy, by speeding you have not wronged the officer, therefore he has no basis to "turn the other cheek", He is simply enforcing the law as his job requires, there is no malicious intent from either party.
