I believe sometimes God gives us what we deserve. One of the most disturbing commercials to me was an abortion commercial with a woman whining that "Romney is going to take away our Constitutional Rights ... including a woman's right to choose". Since when has abortion become a constitutional right? I somehow doubt that the Founding Fathers would approve. How sad is it when the "right" to kill a baby in the womb is a huge dividing line in an election. We have moved far away from God as a Nation, and with it goes His blessings. Sometimes God give us what we deserve.

Apparently it's okay to demand that a woman give up her body to keep a fetus alive, but when an actually born person starts demanding adequate healthcare to keep themselves alive, that's an "entitlement" and they don't deserve any money.
A blastocyst/non-viable fetus is not a baby.
And if idiots like you were getting what you deserve, you'd be getting a Romney/Ryan presidency in January. Thankfully, the intelligent portion of the electorate saved you from yourselves.
It's a constitutional right under the right to privacy.
Even if it weren't, the right to control one's own body and not be forced by the state to be an incubator against one's will is a human right no government has the right to bestow or take away.
If men could get pregnant, this debate wouldn't even exist.
Through established precedent, mainly from a fairy basic reading of the sixth, ninth, and fourteenth amendments.
As for the founding fathers, I should think they had a lot more serious things to worry about than abortion.
"How sad is it when the "right" to kill a baby in the womb is a huge dividing line in an election."
- I felt the same way when Bush and his cronies turned torture from an unthinkable abomination to an "issue." Ah, but that's different, isn't it? The torture victims had actually been born.
I doubt God would be opposed to Roe v. Wade with all that dashing of babies against rocks in the Bible. He also thinks ripping open pregnant women makes for good times too.
We have moved far away from God as a Nation
This is a good thing; you theocrats are losing the ability to fuck up our country. Hopefully, the Obama win will have Republicans thinking twice about pandering to your side now.
Since when has abortion become a constitutional right?
Since 1973. Look it up.
We have moved far away from God as a Nation
Yes, especially with refusing to help the poor or sick like God's son repeatedly told people to do.
Sometimes God give us what we deserve.
Funny how God will punish us for gay marriage and abortion, but not for taking this land from native peoples who lived here before Christians, enslaving Africans and forcing them to come here to work and be owned as property, and refusing to give help to the poor.
The right to bodily integrity isn't that big of a deal, huh? Neither is family planning? It's a dividing line because it's important.
And Republicans make it an issue, simply put. They could, yanno, not try to block access to birth control, sex education, and reproductive health services so people just make their own educated choices. Could, but they won't... They'll keep trying to push it as a religious distorted view that should be forced on people, whether they like it or not.
Up to half of all fertilized eggs fail to implant in the uterus and get flushed out, and a siginificant number of those that do end in a miscarriage. Guess that makes God the biggest abortion provider in the world.
The legal status of abortion does not affect the number of women seeking an abortion. It's just that in countries where it's illegal, more women are killed or permanently injured due to unskilled providers and unsanitary conditions.
Abortion is rarest in countries where comprenensive sex ed is taught, and effective birth control is inexpensive and freely available. The very things you lot are against. In fact, if more women were on birth control, fewer embryos would die due to failing to implant or miscarriage because the egg would never get fertilized in the first place.
But it's not REALLY about saving embryos, is it? It's really about controlling women and punishing them for having sex.
Since when has abortion become a constitutional right?
Since Roe v. Wade dumbass.
How sad is it when the "right" to kill a baby in the womb is a huge dividing line in an election.
And who made it a dividing line? Which party condemns and blacklists it's own for daring to have a contray opinion on the subject?
That's right, Starlet. You're supposed to wait till the baby is born, and then you can kill the little fruit of sin when it'll really hurt, with starvation and child labor.
Whether or not the founding fathers would approve of modern, medical abortions is irrelevant as they had no knowledge of such. You might as well muse that the founding fathers would be against cars, computers or television.
P.S. Remember there were founding fathers who were not your breed of Christians such as the atheist Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson who turned your Bible into a small volume by removing the parts he felt false and/or vile.
You're right. We have. When was the last time we slaughtered a city or village because of unbelievers? Wjen was the last time we had a witch trial and hung the accused? And now Pagans, atheists, Muslims, all other sects of Christianity and Jews can all do our thing and have the first amendment. By getting away from god, we improved as a nation.
@#1467926
Exactly. Calling it a baby is just so... unscientific, it gives me a headache. It doesn't even have a functional brain yet. There is literally, provably, nothing going on in there.
I'm not a huge fan of abortion since killing potential human life is still... significant. But the life of those already born trump that. We should probably worry about those fertilized eggs being flushed out, because there are those who want to get pregnant and cannot and that does not help them at all.
But 75%-79% of abortions are cause by poverty. If you really want to end abortion? Help resolve the financial woes of those who get abortions. Hell, most abortions are done by married women whose family could not support a second child. There's others in the country that cannot have a baby because they need that second income or their ONLY INCOME, but due to lack of paid and unpaid maternity leave setup in America, well... abortion just becomes the only viable option.
If you're going to make abortion the issue, you're going to bring its baggage. Stop trying to define it as a single issue. It's a symptom... of poverty 3/4s of the time. People don't get abortions because it's convenient, they do it because they have no real feasible options.
What if having the child will *kill* the mother? I say it's better to have just one death than two! Also, are you God? No? Then STFU! America...love it or leave it! If you hate America so much, leave! I'll be happy to help you pack up and move.
Sometimes God gives us what we deserve.
Sometimes he gives us what we don't deserve, like you knuckle-draggers.
@ Mattiedef
No one is a "fan" of abortion, any more than anyone is a fan of open heart surgery. It's a surgical procedure that no one wants to have to endure.
It STILL isn't murder, just as it isn't murder when women unkowingly lose embryos with their periods. But give them enough time, and the GOP wil try to find a way to criminalize that, too.
If we had Founding Fathers, how come no one ever mentions the Founding Mothers?
Unless, of course, it was a same sex situation...
@Yeehitherunknown
But potential Human Life>Rock, yes?
I'm not saying it is murder, but it is more valuable than a pet rock.
I know nobody is a fan. Just I was more addressing him.
What strikes me is the sheer arrogance of fundies claiming to know, in precise detail, what their god believes. Such hubris makes it obvious that their god is a product of their own imaginations. Fundies are literally worshipping their own egos.
The right to decide what happens to your body, not the right to "kill", specifically. Men "kill" many more potential babies with each squirt, than women produce eggs during their entire lives.
This is why worshipping the Founding Fathers is ridiculous. They would not approve of lots of things we've done: giving black people the right to vote, making slavery illegal, giving rights to gay people, giving the right to vote to women, abortion, etc.
But so what? They lived in a different time. This is 2012, not 1776. We're SUPPOSED to be moving forward. We've learned. We have more knowledge. Change happens because of that knowledge. We are supposed to be standing on their shoulders, not sitting at their feet kissing their ass.
It's really this simple: her body, she gets to decide what to do with it. Learn some biology; it won't creep you out as much to allow women terminating unwanted pregnancies. And even if it does? Tough shit. You don't get to make something illegal just because it makes you feel icky.
Fetus does not equal baby, moron. Nor does an embryo.
Killing an unborn fetus is EVIL AND BAD! But giving healthcare to poor families with children is EBIL SOCIALISM!
Protect kids in the womb. Once they are out they can go fuck themselves, right?
So go see the consequences of *not* having an abortion. Oh, look, it's not all roses and sunshine, is it? Come to that, it looks an awful lot like sometimes life *sucks*...
Confused?
