Ethical behavior never produces righteousness. There is none righteous, no not one. All your righteousness is as Isaiah said, bloody cotex before Him. Therein is the righteousness of God revealed. The imputed righteousness that comes by faith. And whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Not doing something doesn't make you good, (I don't do this or I don't do that) it makes you nothing. You have to do the good, and the good is already predefined. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. What you are trying to assert is the same logic as saying, "a man has two legs, ipso facto, if it has two legs it's a man"... Sounds real great until you understand birds have 2 legs, and birds aren't a man. It's rhetorical nonsense.

Technically, this is entirely true. If you define morality as the Christians do, namely, everyone is automatically evil and can only be assigned virtue by an abstract deity concept, then this makes perfect sense. If you define morality as the utilitarians do, you have an entirely different concept, and ultimately, neither can be "proven" right, even if it turned out that the deity worshipped by the Christians correlated to an actual reality. The theories of morality cannot be proven, only accepted.
Ditto what Piling On said. How stupid do you have to be to misspell that.
Also, I didn't know that bit about "filthy rags" was a menstrual reference. I just pictured "dirty old rags"....like the kind found by a kitchen sink or garage....or grungy clothing worn by a poor beggar.
Live a good life. If there are Gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are Gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no Gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.
This is my view on this particular subject. If by the time I die I can say I've lived a good, kind, and noble life? Then my life will have been successful beyond my wildest dreams in my younger years.
The OP has a right to believe what they choose, but I cannot and will not agree with it. Humanity is not tarnished and evil, but simply imperfect and diverse in ways we cannot begin to understand.
So righteousness and a code of conduct designed to prevent cruelty, dishonesty, abuse, and manipulation are incompatible?
Considering how much Biblical "righteousness" involves breaking most of God's standing rules often in the form of a destructive rampage or tricking people into a rigged competition with their lives on the line I guess that actually makes sense.
And whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Just like a fundie friend once told me, if something doesn't honor God then it's evil. To which I asked if I had to praise Jesus every time I take a shit.
"All your righteousness is as Isaiah said, bloody cotex before Him."
...I doubt feminine hygiene products - certainly advanced enough by today's standards - existed then. As Piling On suggested, it's spelled with a 'K'.
All those 'Kinds'; your 'God' is so confused, he thinks Bats are Birds . So thanks for admitting that the Bible is rhetorical nonsense. You said it, I didn't.
Perhaps it should be rewritten to read:
'All your brains are belong to us, bloody cor tex before him, as someone had bashed the brains out of this zombie with a cricket bat ' [/"Shaun of the Dead"]
"The Bible According to George A. Romero" would be infinitely more interesting ; the graphic novel version, say, in the style of Shoji Sato's manga "Highschool of the Dead"...! [/Fanservice] >:D
Fortunately I do not strive to be righteous. I try my best to be ethical.
You're a bird-brain. Do you have two legs? Of course, as an ass, you may have four.

Would you consider the likes of Tony Alamo & Josh Buggar to be 'Saved'? A simple 'Yes' or 'No' will suffice.
Think extremely carefully before answering. The very basis of your doctrine, nay, your very religion's right to exist, depends on your reply.
Then there's the little matter of Lying (Abraham & Isaac), Murder, Aborion & War Crimes (Hosea 13:16), Adultery (That Holy Spook putting in Le Club Pudding Joseph's betrothed) and - via Statutory Rape of the underage child bride Mary - the worse -than sin of Paedophilia. Also:

When it comes to Righteousness , certainly Morality, frankly your answering the above question is the least of you & your religion's problems.
Confused?
