I'm impressed. It's a sentence that starts life as a statement and finishes off as a question. Congratulations, you chuntering imbecile.
Personally speaking, I care about science because the proper application of it has made my life better on nearly every level.
It cracks you up because you're too fucking stupid to be curious about the world you live in and you're hiding your insecurity with laughter. You just keep accepting spoon-fed dogma as "fact" and we'll do all the hard thinking for you, poptart. You're a sad little human in a tiny little world of your own creation and the saddest part is that you have no desire to change that.
Why on earth?
Earth is what there is.
Why in heaven's name are fundies so eager to die to get there, yet they won't pack it in and go already?
He's right! What's the purpose in life?
*commits suicide*
Now that I'm dead, do I check the "I'm human" box, or am I a ghost? Awww ... fuckit.
What cracks me up is if atheists think, hey we live, we die ...
And religious people don't think we live and die?
WTF?
It's real simple. Most who call themselves atheists are pretty sure that we get one life, and one life only, to live. So, we endeavor to live that life as well as possible. And we would like future generations to have all we enjoy and more.
In addition to lengthening our lifespans directly science, and other schools of thought, advance our prosperity, health, and standard of living. That and learning things actually gives most of us great satisfaction rather than fear.
That's about it.
Forget science! Get off your computer, go live in a cave, wear animal skins, and kill your own food with your bare hands. Then explain why you don't care about science!
Because science is interesting, and scientific research benefits mankind in the long run. Even if I die before I see the practical results of current scientific research, that doesn't mean that I shouldn't care about science during my lifetime. With your mentality, we may as well not worry about the environment since we'll be dead before it gets too screwed up anyway.
What purpose is life and sentience without knowledge? Who wants to live ignorant and powerless to change the world around them?
And why do fundies care so much about science anyway; all it does is try and fool them to deny God, and a longer lifespan means that you have to wait longer to get into heaven...
Because bright people tend to be inquisitive. Bright people find learning fun, and it makes them more interesting than, say, a Bible-thumping moron.
Well, why not?
Me, I'm curious by nature. I can't stand not knowing anything. My interest in science, therefore, is only natural.
Also, please note that science, unlike religion, has brought us a wondrous plethora of helpful things like medicines, electronics, cars, etc.
Hey we live, we die... since my time on this earth is finite, maybe I should spend it doing the things I enjoy, like studying science?
Because, some day, someone somewhere is going to invent IMMORTALITY PILLS!
Maybe even during my lifetime!
C'mon, guys, hurry up, I'm running outta lifetime!
You said it yourself: "hey, we live". And we want to keep on living, preferable a good life, for as long as possible. And, we want everyone else to also live long and well. Ya know, the whole "treat others as you want to be treated" thing.
If this life is the only existance you will experience, wouldn't you want it to be as good as possible ?
Well, science can do that. It can bring you food, medecine, travelling...
I hated living in a mud hut playing with a few rocks and sticks. Science gave me the internet, a computer to use the internet, a nice house, electric lights (burning cow dung for heat is just stinky), gas hating, television and dvds.
If good christians are the majority in the USA then why is there so much internet porn ?
Because science makes our short time here safer, more pleasant, and more comfortable - just for starters. It also entertains us by providing you morons with a scientific invention like the Internet to criticise science with, and you blissfully fail to ever see the irony in that.
But then you lot really are cracked up, aren't you?
> why on earth do they care so much about science anyway?
> atheists think, hey we live, we die...
You just answered your own question. Why wouldn't we want to make life as good as it can possibly be? We only live once, after all.
Unlike God, science can actually improve our lives and having a nicer life even if it is finite is preferable to having a not as nice life.
The problem is actually the other way around:
If you are going to happyland after you die, why are you still here?
When diagnosed with ALS, Prof. Stephen Hawking was told he would live only another two years. That was decades ago. Meanwhile, the medical science of the National Health Service: 70 years old now. He was just six when it was introduced.
What cracks me up is if fundies think they care so little about scientists...:

...why does the normal, sane Church of England care so much about this one to bury & memorialise him in their central place of worship, Westminster Abbey?
“why on earth do they care so much about science anyway?”
So, science on this plane of existence only makes sense if you think you’re going to spend eternity in an entirely different existence? For reals?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
