EVERYTHING has a SHELF LIFE. The Roman Empire had a shelf life, the Dark Ages had a shelf life, Dinosaurs had a shelf life, the VCR and the floppy disc had shelf lives, Christianity has a shelf life.
The only one who's confused is you, dearie. Kids growing up with two mums or two dads are used to that, and the confusion doesn't come until class-mates with bigoted parents (like you) bully them.
People have been living in same-sex relationships for centuries, long before registered partnership and same-sex marriage came around, and some of them have had children. There are adults, even old people, who have grown up with same-sex parents (as in "adults who are constantly there and take care of you", rather than "egg and sperm provider"), and they are just as well-adjusted as everyone else. If anything, children of gay parents are usually more open-minded and tolerant, than children of religious fundies (for example) tend to be.
As long as you have positive female and male role models around you, you will usually do well. Or are you going to make it illegal to be a single parent, whether from divorce or death of a spouse?
The most famous gay couple in Sweden, Jonas Gardell and Mark Levengood, have two children with two of their friends who are a lesbian couple. They share custody of the children, so those kids have TWO fathers AND TWO mothers.
