Have you any children? And if you lost one would you want to believe you never again could have the chance to see that child. A soboring thorugt. A ugly world you must live.

I think I'm having a soboring thorugt right now
oops, excuse me, it was just gas.
While a nice idea, it doesn't make it true. It is true if it reflex reality, not because it would be comforting. It would be comforting and nice for me to have an extra million dollars, but my bank account is still at -$14.52.
It would still be nice through... Just saying.
We can flip it around.
Imagine being in heaven, while watching your own child screaming in Hell.
Your options are:
1) Hope that your creator changes you into something incapable of feeling remorse or empathy for former loved ones;
2) Hope that your creator erases all memory of your loved ones;
3) Endure it.
This is the world you're describing.
No children, no. I don't WANT to believe that, no, I hope that in some way you do get to meet your loved ones, but I still live this life as if this is it, as in taking many chances to see my loved ones here and now, not holding it off till after death.
How is refusing to accept reality a "soboring thorugt"? I live in reality, which IS very ugly. I try making it a little bit better, instead of closing my eyes and singing "lalalalala, I can't see it".
No children (unless you count an aborted fetus, which you idiots generally do), but plenty of other family. I'd love to think I could see them again and spend all eternity with them, but I know it won't happen.
Reality sucks sometimes, but wishing it away won't change anything.
“Have you any children?”
Three. And a Daughter in Law. And a grand daughter.
“And if you lost one would you want to believe you never again could have the chance to see that child.”
Want to? No, of course not.
But wishing doesn’t make it true.
I won’t adopt a belief in Amateratsu just because one of her priestesses promises me a reunion with a lost loved one. Because the priest of Hel says HIS goddess is the way to that reunion. And the Catholic says HIS is the only way. And the Mormon says the Catholic worships Satan. And the Baptist says teh Mormon AND the Catholic worship Satan. And the Catholic says the Baptist is a pedophile…
"A soboring thorugt.”
I see you could use a sobering thought, too.
“A ugly world you must live.”
This would be why we cherish people while they are HERE. Why we don’t kick people out of OUR families if they’re gay or New Age or doubting or questioning or curious… We don’t look at every woman for signs that she’s really a man so we can scream like the Pod People on finding a real human. And if we get overwhelmed we can ask for help, unlike my cousin that kept saying “GOD IS GREAT!” and “GOD IS EVERYTHING I NEED!” right up until he killed himself.
YOUR world disappoints the shit out of me.
Confused?
