[In response to a recent ammendment by the Presbyterian National Assembly permitting homosexuals to become clergy]
(weeping smileys)
I know, still it just makes me weep, awhile back I asked the Lord to break my heart with the things that break His. Even though I recognize that this is a part of the end days sometimes it is just so terribly heartbreaking to watch it. I was weeping as I read this article, please come soon Lord Jesus.

Oh, my eyes are watering all right, but I don't think it's for the same reason. Good grief, these people are just nuts!

OK, so according to fundies, homosexuality is a sin, right?
Also, all men and women are born sinful, right?
And all members of the clergy are men or women, right?
Doesn't that mean that all clergies are made up of nothing but sinners? And even if homosexuals are sinners, that doesn't make them any worse off, in the eyes of God, than all the liars and lusters and prideful sinners who He's already welcomed into the cloth.
You know, this makes me cry too. With laughter.
The end of days, huh? Wow...the rain of fire and brimstone must not have made it to the midwest yet, then - I'm still not melting in a pit of anything.
You want someone to break your heart, Ellie? Come see me for a bit - I'll help!
"I am a gay clergyman and I'm going to enter your church, Ellie! I'm coming for YOU, Ellie, and you can't stop me! I'm going to recruit you to become a lesbian elder, Ellie! Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-HA!"
OK, so according to fundies, homosexuality is a sin, right?
But fundies see homesexuality as some sort of double secret probationary sin -- in their minds it's the worst of the worst.
Since the return of Jesus will protend the deaths and eternal punishment of most of humanity, isn't it utterly evil, and might I say "un-Christian," to pray for such a thing?
So ellie ASKS for things that will break her heart? I mean, I know that she isn't getting her prayer answered, but consider her state of mind to think of something she perceives as bad, gay clergy, and then she PRAYS for knowledge that, in her mind, would cause the creator of mankind to weep? This woman (i'm assuming she's a she I guess) is in a serious depression, and I hope she gets help. "Everything is evil, cry, cry, cry, it's almost armeggedon, cry, weep, cry, please take me jesus! Cry, bawl, weep. Holy shit, religion sure can kick a person's ass. If you need to see jesus so bad, find out when the next train gets into town and be under it. So much for the shining rays of hope and light and whatever, being close to god makes you feel like shit.
Oh yes, come Lord Jesus take me away I am too good for this sick depraved world I "deserve" to be in your presense then living on this earth with these filthy sinners all around me. Take me away I am clean and pure because of my righteousness I am not a homosexual they deserve death, I don't. Please Lord get me outta here. I am so good.
Hmmm. Prayer of the Pharisees is alive and well on Rapture "pharisee, legalistic Bush-God cult" Ready I see.
#1 hub message board of sanctimonious hypocrites I have ever seen.
Poisoned Rationality said:"Hehe... I'm a spiritualist (read: New Ager) and bisexual. What would they think of *ME*? ;)"
They might say: "Yes sir, step this way please. That's it, don't trip on the woodpile. A little kindling here, please. Nice and comfy? Ropes not to tight? Good. (sound of match being struck)
That woman should learn to keep her masochism under control... BTW, could one be a fundie and a goth at the same time? The combination of the two looks like too big a disaster for such a tiny brain, but...
And how would the Lord Jesus respond to this? Nothing. Zip. Nada. Because he doesn't exist!!
Not necessarily, just replace ET by Jesus in the following strip:

Redhunter, Adrian _ I think you're on to something here, but I see it as going a bit deeper; i.e., it isn't only ellie who is displaying masochism; but that sado-masochism is at the chore of the fundie mentality.
Who else but a masochist would claim to be fulfilled having a "relationship" with someone who says, in effect, "Love me or I'll torture you forever"? Who else but a masochist would claim to enjoy living a life where one's very thoughts must be restrained?
The sadistic side is the one they show to people who don't share their particular delusions. That's why they seem to relish proclaiming that everyone who does not share their particular delusions is going to burn in hell. Of course, they say it in the spirit of christian love Sick!
The Presbyterians are now more tolerant... just like Jesus preached (ya know, the whole 'Judge not...' spiel?)... and THAT's a sign of the End Times?
What about plagues, earthquakes, stars falling down, worldwide darkness and all the cool FX in Revelation? You've really lowered your apocalyptic standards...
But then, you post on RR. Why do I even bother?..
If you're really so keen to meet Jesus, why not give away all your worldly goods, grab a stack of Bibles and head off to the Middle East as a missionary.
Jesus will appreciate you efforts so much that I'm sure he'll call you to him 'very' quickly.
ellie(moaning): Oohhhh... oh, please come soon Lord Jesus! Oh! I can't take it!
Jesus: Yeeaaahhh, baby, mmmh! I'm coming, honey, I'm COMING!
ellie: OH, LORD JESUS! YES! YES!!
... I'm so sorry. I just couldn't resist.
I'm curious as to whether people, you know, starving to death, losing limbs in explosions, going blind, etc. provokes a reaction anywhere near this intense. I'm betting almost certainly not.
Confused?
