One of my closest friends is gay (I'm *not*), I've known him since Junior High, and I most definitely can assure you it ain't a choice.
It's not a switch either. More like a slider between two preferences...

It's a combination of genetics and hormones during foetal development. There is no choice involved. The only reason a gay person would 'wish' they were straight is because of societal pressure. It's rather like an African-American wishing he/she were Caucasian: no amount of prayer, therapy, etc. is going to have an effect. Anyone who states that they have been 'cured' of their homosexuality is lying and has simply retreated to the closet in the face of outside pressure.

Same logic would imply that someone who doesn't speak French can do so simply by wanting to; or have blue, grey, hazel eyes; or be left-handed or right-handed; of be ambidextrous; oe - oh go figure for yourself.
Choice? OK. So, give me a good reason why anyone would want to swim against the stream all their life long if they had any choice about it. You clearly have no idea of mental pain and suffering gay people have to overcome, much of it caused by uncomprehending bastards that spout personal prejudices with no background of understanding of the situation.
My prayer for you: that your kids put you in a home where you are blamed for being incontinent and get bashed about by an unsympathetic staff for pissing and shitting yourself.
No. I'm not being hard on you. People of your ilk, when combined together have a lot of influence on those who are trying to come to terms with their gay orientation, and so many have been pushed over the edge into suicide. Not that that would bother your sort anyway. But perhaps a little slapping about in a nursing home and being blamed for something that is nature rather than you fault would be good for your soul. Die slowly, very slowly, over many many years in that nursing home!

You pressuring homosexuals to be something they're not will have the same amount of success as white Americans did, trying to pressure Native Americans to fully assimilate into white society and strip themselves of all remnants of their native identity...all the while enacting laws that specifically prevented Native Americans from fully becoming legal members of white society. You can't change your sexual orientation any more than you can change your race. Deal with it.
