He who is without sin, cast the first stone. He who is without sin, is Jesus. Jesus gets first dibs on the stoning of fudgedippers. When he starts, I will join in. With that said, same sex is a sin. We all sin. Those who sin must repent to be like Christ. To repent, means to be sorry, and make an effort to not sin again. Therefore, those that are homosexual are just like all of us, we need to quit our sinning as best we can, and they must quit having sex. They are truly LIVING IN SIN.

I always liked that part. It is the best one for countering all that ChristianLove coming from the Fundies.

I... I don't think that's what Jesus meant to say .-.
>Therefore, those that are homosexual are just like all of us
Nothing to say here. I just wanted to take the sentence out of context, because that makes it sound much nicer.
So, Jesus is not acceptable to vicious ninnies unless they pretend that Jesus was a violent oaf too. The message is, "Jesus takes after His Dad. They are both vicious numpties."
Yeah! I know jeremiad, when Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.", He meant, "Bring your little children to me, I'll make them suffer alright. Forever! For I, Jesus, am a vicious numpty."
jeremiad, have you cut your hair recently? Cut your beard? Eaten pork or shellfish? Mixed milk and meat? Entered a holy place with your head uncovered? Wore clothes of mixed fabric?
Then you are truly LIVING IN SIN.
"Oh boy, Jesus is going to start killing people I hate! I can't wait to help him kill some fags!"
If only you realized that this is what you sound like. Or, shudder the thought, you probably do.
" Jesus gets first dibs on the stoning of fudgedippers When he starts, I will join in"
SO you'll have to wait for him to come a second time. Hope you have a really thick book to read while you're waiting.
He who is without sin, cast the first stone. He who is without sin, is Jesus
And yet he didn't cast any stones. Weird. It's almost like he was telling everyone to be nice or something.
He who is without sin, is Jesus.
But, it was a sin not to follow the laws... and the law was the woman was to be stoned. By preventing that from happening, Jesus sinned.
So, no... Jesus is not without sin.
"He who is without sin, cast the first stone. He who is without sin, is Jesus. Jesus gets first dibs on the stoning of fudgedippers."
does he? even though he gave his life in an act of profound mercy and compassion so all of us woeful sinners might be saved?
you're just a terrible fucking christian. the more christians there are like you, the closer christianity is to death. i'm honestly insulted. there's just nothing to you at all.
i'm perplexed too. i'm an atheist, so why should i care. i guess it must be the bible readings my grandma gave me. she was decent christian, not the mockery of chritianity that goes around in fundie community, an so she was about kindness and mercy and compassion and grace and hope and providence.
what are you supposed to be about?
There is no such thing as 'sin' -it's a motivator to get you to spend your life thinking you're broken where Jesus is the fix.
Let it cancel itself out.
Sin is a crime against god. If there is no god, there is no sin.
Now crimes, on the other hand, do indeed exist.
When he starts, I will join in.
But he didn't and I don't think he's going to start in order to give you the opportunity to stone someone. If he exists and your Second Coming is real, you'd better start worrying, because he'll see the metaphorical rock in your hand and note that you show no signs of repentance.
While I do think that some of the more liberal Christians are prone to an awful lot of mental gymnastics when they interpret the bible (just as fundies are prone to it when they try to make reality and a literal interpretation of the bible compatible), I think that the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" bit is pretty straightforward. Between context and the quote itself, it is quite clear that Jesus is implying that no one should condemn others for "sins" when they themselves are sinners (according to the bible, anyway).
Oh, and that whooshing sound? That was the point sailing gracefully over your head.
You forgot one thing, dearie. It was Jesus who said that, and he meant that none of us are better than the ones you want to stone.
Have you repented from wearing clothes of mixed fabrics? Have you repented from not selling all your possessions and given the money to the poor? No? Then get off your high horses and do that first, THEN you can berate others for their sins. Oh sorry, no; you can't do that then either. I forgot the whole "Judge not lest ye be judge" thing. Guess you'll going to have to content yourself with repenting your own sins...
Where the fuck does jeremiad get his theology, Bloom County?
Read the Penguin Lust arc to get what I'm talking about.
As an aside the earliest versions of the Gospel of John don't include the 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone' story. It doesn't appear until the late 4th/early 5th century.
Interestingly Conservapedia think the verses should be removed from their 'Conservative Bible' on the grounds they're a 'liberal' addition to the original text. So for once they're correct, though probably for the wrong reason.
Confused?
