I have a question to all atheists. How do you think the world came to be? How do you think people,stars,earth,animals were made? Really there are only 2 choices. Either God created the heavens and the earth is 6 days OR an asteroid hit the ocean and we came out of slime. But evolution doesn't make sense because the earth is winding down not up. I think it takes more faith to believe that man evolved from slime and a bang. But it is Christians who society views as crazy. Kind of ironic isn't it. We believe God made the universe and the world views us a strange. But it is not crazy to think man evolved from slime. I guess my question is how do you think the world was formed and why? It is important to know what you believe and why. Most people don't. I believe that God made the world. I also believe every word in the Bible.

The Sun, Earth and the rest of the solar system were created when a gas cloud collaped in upon itself about 4.6 billion years ago. The creation of the "heavens," the Sun and the Earth have nothing to do with evolutionary biology. "But evolution doesn't make sense because the earth is winding down not up," Fundies love the Second Law of Thermodynamics the same way they love their Bible; unconditionally and without actually having understood it. The Earth is not winding down, it receives energy from the sun. "I think it takes more faith to believe that man evolved from slime and a bang." You have confused science with religion. Personally I believe in as little as possible. Belief gets in the way of learning and learning is the only tool for survival our species has. "I believe that God made the world." As do millions of other theists but unlike fundies it doesn't force them to ignore or disbelieve science. "I also believe evey word in the Bible." Really? You believe that insects have 4 legs? That pi equals 3? That bats are birds? That an all powerful God couldn't defeat chariots made of iron? Odds are you haven't ever read the whole Bible.

So, as 82-85% of the U.S. identifies as Christian, that means that the remaing 15-18% make up all of society? "We believe God made the universe and the world views us a strange." Yes, us atheists view you as strange because you believe these remarkable claims though you have zero credible evidence to support them. We can trace back the formation of the universe to within a tiny fraction of a second after the big bang. True, we don't have all the information on the big bang, but we have a lot and research continues. Goddidit = no evidence at all. Why? As we don't believe a being started or controlled the formation of the universe, we don't require a "why?" "I believe that God made the world. I also believe every word in the Bible." That's because you are a dimwit with no critical thinking skills. If you accept the answers to some of the greatest questions in life with no evidence, you are a nitwit.

I am comfortable with the fact that my knowledge is far from absolute. Papabear Why? As we don't believe a being started or controlled the formation of the universe, we don't require a "why?" I feel that the 'why, is still important. the Big Bang didn't occur 'just because'. Evidently there were forces that drove it to bring about the beginning of the universe as we currently know it, but what were these forces? What was there before?

Maybe in your scope of understanding, but in the grand scheme of things there are many interpretations of creation/evolution, even among Christians. I, for one, am a Theistic Evolutionist, and you can believe the Bible and science at the same time. Not all Christians believe that God's six days were literal 24-hour days. For all you know, each day could be millions of years, considering God began counting days before the formation of the sun. Plus, how are there only two choices when there are millions of other religions out there? I only believe in God, but still others choose to believe in, say, the Rainbow Serpents. I personally don't think about how the world came to be (large nebular cloud imploded some 5 or so billion years ago, spent a few billion years cooling down and going through what can best be described as an ecological holocaust of acid rain and toxic air) because it doesn't help me pay the rent or feed my kids. The world is here, I like the world, with it's starry night skies and rainy summers and Harvey's burgers with extra pickles and the Vancouver Whitecaps. How that all happened, is very tangential to me.

Now, if some people want to believe in some big babysitter up in the sky, that's fine too. As long as they don't push their beliefs on me, or anybody else. Live and let live. Good advice. Your Jesus-fella would approve.
