Hmmm. This raises an interesting question. Which is more foolish, pretending the bible stories occurred historically before these other stories, or pretending that the devil knew what was going to happen in the future and made all these cultures come up with these stories, so that people could be confused about it, several thousand years later?

The simplest explanation is that these were stories that made the rounds of many Semitic cultures. Gilgamesh repeated the story, the Bible repeated the story, the Egyptians repeated the story, etc. Each one inserted their own god and their own tribe as the stars.

The theme that a woman was responsible for bringing suffering and death to the whole human race is the same in both.
A true fundie believes that God dictated those events as they happened and if other accounts appear to be older, the dating is wrong, or maybe we just haven't found the original Bible which was surely on the Ark.
Considering everything you cited is older than the bible, no, you're no fucking scholar, that's for fucking sure.
You can't think here. It's data which has to be verified, not discussed. If Gilgamesh is 5000 years old and the Bible 3000, maths don't match, sorry.

This is an entirely rational thing to think, until you're let grasp just how recent the bible is compared to the myths that predate it.

so that is a miss by at least 33,000 years

All this despite the fact that some of these myths predate the Bible, or existed in regions that weren't originally exposed to Christianity and therefore had no knowledge of the stories inherent therein and, as such, couldn't have "copied...biblical accounts".

The only similarities between Pandora and Eve were that their Gods fucked them over royally by giving them curiosity, and then tempting them. Hell, at least the Greeks were honest in saying that Pandora was a punishment form the Gods for accepting the gift of fire from Prometheus, as I recall.
IIRC, the Catholic Church's official explanation for all those 'coincidences' between previous myths and the Bible (not only Noah/Gilgamesh, but also Moses/Sargon and Jesus/Horus/Dionysos/Krishna/etc.) is that...

If I were to point out to you that those stories were prevalent before the Bible, and in fact, Mesopotamian and Greek cultures influenced the very region in which the Bible was written...might you cling to your fairly reasonable theory of literary influence?
