Transgenderism is a mental disorder, and should be treated as such.

No.
However, I have a mental disorder. So let's have some fun with this post. In dealing with my disorder, having my thoughts and feelings validated was and still is extremely helpful to encourage me to make progress on managing it. Likewise, with a trans person, validating their gender identity, as opposed to imposing what you think they should identify as onto them, does a world of good for their mental state. Another thing that has helped me is getting onto medications that help me manage the symptoms. For a trans person, the hormone medication helps them manage their symptoms of being trans by providing them with hormones corresponding to the gender they feel most comfortable with.
So if we are to treat trans people like they have mental illnesses, then shouldn't we be as loving and accepting towards them as possible? Ought we give them the medicine they need, instead of leaving them to change their mind about having a mental disorder (Protip: it never happens, no matter how much the afflicted wants to)?
Yet another reason to hate the "trans people are mentally ill" argument.
“Transgenderism is a mental disorder,”
Not according to over 100 years of scientific investigation. But, you know better, i see. And your training in this field?
“and should be treated as such.”
Funny thing, do you KNOW the most successful treatment of transgenderism?, whether it’s biochemical, mental, or emotional in nature? Transitioning them.
So, yeah.
Confused?
