Well, although 500 million is probably a good number for controlling pollution and managing resources, it's not quite practical in the sense that we would have to kill roughly 6 billion people to reach that number.
So, citation needed.
"Some who disagree with the idea of eugenics in general contend that eugenics legislation still had benefits. Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood of America) found it a useful tool to urge the legalization of contraception. In its time eugenics was seen by many as scientific and progressive, the natural application of knowledge about breeding to the arena of human life. Before the death camps of World War II, the idea that eugenics could lead to genocide was not taken seriously." -wikipedia "Eugenics"

"The message in English reads:
* Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature
* Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
* Unite humanity with a living new language.
* Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
* Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
* Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a one world court
* Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
* Balance personal rights with social duties.
* Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
* Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

Planned parenthood should not feared as a purveyor of eugenics, because eugenics, in order to be effective, are FORCED upon populations. Giving people the choice to control their own personal reproductive capacity is not the same thing as sterlizing those with I.Q.'s under 82.
As for the "correct population" bit....citation needed, desperately in order to avoid being illicit slander.
"Margaret Higgins Sanger (September 14, 1879 September 6, 1966) was an American birth control activist, an advocate of negative eugenics, and the founder of the American Birth Control League (which eventually became Planned Parenthood). Initially met with fierce opposition to her ideas, Sanger gradually won some support, both in the public as well as the courts, for a woman's choice to decide how and when, if ever, she will bear children."
Yeah they are. Like Bush.
And though that does seem kind of ridiculous, I think half a billion people would be pretty good, we would land for farming, wildlife reserves and still lots of room to ourselves.
Lots of room... If we only had less people....
Gee, you are really full of shit, you know that? How many "liberals and enviromentalists" have ever even heard of the "Georgia Guidestones", much less even know what inscription is on it? And eugenics has been practiced for thousands of years from the first time some prehsitoric tribe exposed a baby born with defects in the wilderness, so what is your point?
"of course none of the politicians or elites are in the gotta go bunch!"
Well hey now, let's not be too hasty. We haven't drawn up the final list yet. The only people who are confirmed for definate are white supremecists and the Olsen twins.
Besides, what are you complaining about? You're in the business of mass murder yourself aren't you? Your holy book says millions will die during the second coming and you can't wait. I hardly think you're in any position to critisise anyone else's plan for en masse killing.
PP wasn't founded on the principles of eugenics. Margaret Sanger made a bad political move when she allowed financial and vocal support from eugenicists because no one else was listening to her.
After that, you are made of fail.
Statistics, statistics, get your juicy, hot statatistics here, folks. Yes, sir, two with mustard? Would you pass these down, please?
planned parenthood was founded on the principals of eugenics....
Planned Parenthood was apparently founded by a woman who happened to be an eugenics supporter, yes. It was not, however, founded as an eugenics organization, in that its only purpose is allowing women to choose for themselves when they want to become mothers.
Foundation?Present State
liberals and environmentalists have long been saying the correct population for the earth is a mere 500 million.
An exceptionally generalizing statement.
That means a lot of us have to go.....of course none of the politicians or elites are in the gotta go bunch!
No, because most of them are not mad eugenicists supporting such a widespread extermination program.
Next?
No.. planned parenthood was founded on the need for comprehensive reproductive education, reproductive health, couples counseling, and birth control.
Breeding programs are not part of PP. But that is what you get for listening to Rapture Retard Rhetoric and not finding out for yourself.
"liberals and environmentalists have long been saying the correct population for the earth is a mere 500 million. "
You're wrong about that - the people saying this are the jackbooted, blue helmet UN troops that are marching down your street this very minute, ready to kill you in mass (just like Archbishop Romero) now that you've been weakened by chemtrails.
"That means a lot of us have to go"
Every day, a lot of us have to go. Someday we'll fill the grand canyon.
"of course none of the politicians or elites are in the gotta go bunch!"
Sucks to be you, you breeder. I've been told the planned method of supervirus delivery is by RFID chip controlled pelicans. Mwahahaha.
This is more CTSTDT.
You know, it's not like getting the population down to whatever number is good requires actively killing people. Just ratchet down the birth rate over time until the population hits sustainable numbers, then ease it back up to replacement. It'll take a few generations but it'll work and no one has to actively be killed.
Just for the record, if we had to choose only 500 million people to survive, yes, I think I would pick the educated and intellectual elite rather than homeschooled fundies.
I wonder why.
Eugenics doesn't mean to decrease population, but to select genetically those individuals who have a better DNA map. If people, and planned parenthood, do this at a worldwide scale, it's not eugenics.
"Eugenics" in general, involves a) discarding obviously defective children, as has been done throughout the course of history; b) preventing close blood relatives from [in]breeding obviously defective children.
It's ironic that a RR twitcher is objecting to a plan to reduce the earth's population.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
