My children, having been born into a Christian home...already believe the Gospel. And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such.

What kind of moron takes pride in the fact that they can bullshit their kids into believing anything?
Wait until they're teens and they start bullshitting you about how they intend to remain "pure" until they're married...and you wind up believing it.
So, basically you're calling your children stupid and gullible. . .? As opposed to you, an adult who still believes in imaginary friends. When I was a child, I appealed to authority too. Hopefully, when your children get older, they'll be able to see through your bullshit.
"And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such."
Now you know why I think religion is b$..
So close, so very close, yet so far.
Telling your kids that the bible is completely and literally true is just as stupid as telling your kids that the moon is made of green cheese.
Stop brainwashing your children!

You just know this is the stripe of fundie who says fruits shouldn't be allowed to raise children, because the kids will be indoctrinated into the gay lifestyle.
And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such.
And I'm sure the full implications of this statement are totally lost on MTF.
Wow, there is a lot of arrogance and pride in that Statement.
'Look at me, I've indoctrinated my kids with one type of Bullshit, and I can convince them of any crap I wish to feed them.'
How very clever of you, you can con children /sarcasm
If they ever start thinking for themselves and question your lies, you're just going to look like the ignorant prick you make yourself out to be in that statement.
And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such.
- This is the innocent nature of children, and it is being abused in fundie homes. It is a form of child abuse in my view.
This is pure child abuse, you're abusing the trust you're children have in their parents' knowledge and misleading them into never questioning.
This disgusts me on the level that the "jesus camp" video disgusted me.

Wallace: 'Hmmmm... tastes of... bullshit, Gromit.'
BTW, I hear Aardman Animation's next work (after their recent triumph, "A Matter Of Loaf And Death") will be a spy thriller. It's title?:
"A Quantum Of Wallace".
...I'll get my coat.
Exactly. There's a period in their lives where children they'll believe everything they're told as a survival mechanism. They don't weigh the facts, they don't even get a chance to, because mom or dad might be showing them a plant that will kill them if they eat it, or an animal that will hurt them, etc. THAT'S why we hate indoctrination.
This is exactly the problem. CHildren are programmed...by evolution...to accept what adults tell them, i.e. "Run from Tigers" or "Don't put your hand in the fire". Thise children that had the gene that said "listen to adults" had a greater chance of surviving and reproducing and passing that gene on. However, that gene can backfire because it apparently has no bullshit detector in it....
More children being trained for jobs at McDonald's, KFC, Wendy's, Jack-n-the-box, Pizzahut etc...
Spoken like a true EX-christian who wised up, but, alas, it's just another brain-dead fundie who still doesn't get it.
People like you strengthen the case for mandating IQ tests for people before they are allowed to breed. Five years ago I would have vehemently opposed that idea but the more I read and hear garbage like this the more I think it might be a great idea... simply so that you can't brainwash and poison your children's minds, and then brag about having done so.

Wouldn't have anything to do with you telling them that the bible was what they believed before they had a chance to make up their own mind about it, would it?
And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such.
So you teach your kids to believe what they are told to believe rather than to figure it out on their own. Your raising children not sheep, you should treat them as such. I've raised my kids to question everything, even what I have told them. Truth is something you must find yourself, not something that is handed down from on high
And they would have believed the moon is made of green cheese, if I had told them such.
No Shit! Really?
Idiot of course they will believe you. But at least you admit the level of logic you are using to teach them
Wow--the hysterics over a comment which was blatantly wrenched out of context! I tried to sign on to this forum a couple of years ago so I could return comment, but I kept getting blocked.
If you had seen the context from which my comment was dishonestly wrenched, you would realize I was simply making the point that children are impressionable and that they tend to trust the word of their parents.
If I tell them they need to look both ways before crossing the street, they'll believe me. That's a good thing...not a bad thing. The hysterical handwringing going on here is ridiculous. If they're told there is no God...or that there IS a God...parents can be very influential with their young children in that way. That was my point.
The proposal made by numerous folks in this thread...that parents should stand back and withhold any guidance for their kids in accordance with their own beliefs and values...total and utter absurdity.
It is the job of a parent to guide and shape their children the best way they can.
Hi Matt,
Got a question for you. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was wondering since I have been exposed to the teaching at Oral Roberts Mabee Center. I have also gone to Rhema Bible Church. Would like to know if you know anything about Victory Christian Center? Have gone there also but don't know if it's contaminated with devil worship or not. Was Billy Joe Daugherty a member of the freemasons? Can't find much information on him. He's gone on to be with the Lord, (I hope) Never heard him preach anything out of the way except for the prosperity message. Can you help me with this? Really need to find a good Bible believing church here.
Thanks so much!
Rachel
And I'll bet you're also making sure they believe science is the work of the devil, evolution is untrue, and those that believe differently than they do should be put to death. Oh, and be sure to follow your bible and stone them to death if they misbehave, work on the sabbath, eat shellfish, cut their hair and beard, or wear mixed fabrics. Also tell them that yours will be the first hands around their necks to kill them if they ever claim other gods are true. Tell them that's "because you "love" them".
Be sure they understand two more things which will help them with their careers:
"Would you like fries with that?"
"Thank you, drive through."
Hadn't visited here in a while. Just to answer a few of the crazy, wacky comments here:
Not sure how the one guy managed to switch the subject over to "creationism". (?) In any case, how did all the matter and/or energy which comprises the universe get here?
A four-year-old might be "bluffing"? The comment is ridiculous. If you're referring to older children - sure, they might become disbelieving of something their parents tell them. Not sure what you're trying to argue.
And the guy claiming I want to put people to death who disagree with me...and that my children will end up serving fries - wow, talk about bigotry. Holy smokes! What's next on your agenda? Burning a cross on my front yard? Let's thank the good Lord YOU'RE not in charge. I assume you'd have me immediately thrown into the deepest darkest dungeon.
And for the record - my children are now young adults - one is studying to become a radiologist - the other is going into IT (Internet technology). What a terrible childhood they must've had!
And finally, to "Swede" - I'm "feeding them lies and deceptions"?? Make an argument, fella. What ever are you talking about? The sheer hatred for Bible believers being exhibited here - oy vey. YOU guys are the haters. Mama mia.
Ya'll need to put your hate-erator in the refrigerator.
"In any case, how did all the matter and/or energy which comprises the universe get here? "
Just because we don't yet know doesn't give you the right to make up any fairy-tale you want and claim that that must therefore be the correct answer. Take, for example, lightning. After science gave us the natural explanation, continuing to claim it was Zeus was laughable. Just because science can't yet explain it doesn't mean science never will be able to explain it. "Because we don't yet know therefore means it must be your specific supernatural sky-pixie" is just as laughable as claiming Zeus it still throwing the lightning bolts from Mount Olympus. What about all of the other religious claims saying their specific sky-pixie did it? I know, "They're all wrong". Well, guess what, that's what they say about you.
If you claim "goddidit", how did your god get here? ". If you claim "He has always been here", why then couldn't the universe have always been here?
You're suggesting there's an undiscovered 'cause' out there which will be discovered somewhere in the future, and which will explain the origin of the realm of nature. But no matter what that 'cause' is, we would then need to find ITS cause!
If you're right in claiming God cannot be allowed to break the laws of nature in claiming to be an uncaused Cause....then neither can YOU propose a theory whereby the realm of nature is seen as uncaused...and/or brought about by an uncaused cause.
And yet...the universe (the realm of nature) DOES exist. So either IT is itself an uncaused cause, as you suggest (a suggestion, by the way, which is in contradiction to your own claimed bedrock - science and physics) OR it has an uncaused cause (or as I prefer - an uncaused "Cause").
Either way, something SUPER-natural has occurred. The very existence of the realm of nature (the universe) is proof of the supernatural. The realm of nature, as a matter of common sense, requires a cause which supersedes nature. A cause which comes from OUTSIDE the realm of nature. A super-natural cause.
You're looking for a supernatural cause out there (apparently, any kind of supernatural cause except for God). But that would violate the laws of nature (including the Cause and Effect Principle)...which you say can't be done.
I wouldn't think you'd need a wider quote from me. The statement stands by itself. Its simple common sense: Very young children will believe virtually anything their parents tell them. To manufacture controversy out of that simple statement of fact is utterly absurd.
If the child's parents are atheistic and believe in some version of the "theory of evolution"...why wouldn't they begin influencing their children at the earliest possible age?
Confused?
