And none of you here will ever be as great as these men no matter how you deny God you are weak faithless human beings and I pity you. You can't understand so you deny it just like ancient Christians did. The Spiritual world can't be compared with the physical world and numbers will never lead to understanding God. Most of you guys became Atheists just to spite your parents, I guess this is the reason you are always so angry and bitter.
By the way you guys will never rule the world because you can never understand it, you will always remain 10% because atheists are all rich white people, weirdos and retards who know nothing other than the subjects they study.

Even assuming this is true (despite the fact that I know an atheist who is quite a Renaissance man who holds a double master's degree, has a 5th Dan in Tae Kwon Do, studies astronomy, plays guitar, campaigns for local politicians, and can even cook really damn well and so can easily prove you wrong) specialization is the name of the game these days, especially in scientific and technical fields. There's just so much knowledge out there that you can't POSSIBLY know everything there is to know. Hell, even in one very narrowly defined specialty it's impossible to know everything because knowledge is dynamic and constantly updating from findings all over the world.

Well, I'm not most people. To quote my father: 'If it doesn't pay the rent or put food on the table, it has no place in my house!' My mother had a 'take it or leave it' attitude to religion. Destroyed argument, much?

Sweden: 5% of it's population are regular churchgoes; less so in Denmark. According to EU surveys & polls, the Czech Republic is the least religious country in Europe. I live in one of the Top 5 least religious parts of the UK. Americentric much, bible study? But then, you'd know these facts if you weren't 'hoemskuled', because - like the Madrassas in Pakistan/Afghanistan - you know nothing more than that Bible you study. How is it in that river in Egypt? Cold?

I love the smell of annihilated arguments in the morning. Smells .like... victory.

Atheists don't believe in God, so they're not too chuffed if their work doesn't lead to understanding him. Regular Bible study will never lead to understanding quantum mechanics. Something tells me you lot don't care that you don't understand quantum because it doesn't jive with your sensibilities. Of course, the evidence for quantum mechanics far, far outweighs the evidence for God.

I identify more as an agnostic-atheist; I don't think there are any deities, but I can't say definitively that they don't exist somewhere in the vastness of the universe (though even if they did exist I'm not sure why they'd be worthy of such worship as most religious texts suggest). Neither of my parents were religious when I was growing up, so I guess I sure spited them by...believing exactly as much as they did. That sure showed them! And they spited all of my grandparents who...were also not religious. I'm sure they were deeply hurt by those acts of rebellion! If there were anything close to spiting, it'd be my dad, who started going to church a few years ago (hardly a die-hard religious type) and my aunt on my mother's side, who discovered Judaism in her 20's (my mother's side is Jewish, but at this point it's cultural rather than religious). Unlike the fundies who have nothing but vitriol for those who don't believe as they do, we don't particularly care what our family members do or don't believe, and we're far from an angry and bitter family.

Yeah, ok, but what about another 70-80% of "Christians" who couldn't give a shit about religion in their daily lives, more or less never go to church, couldn't tell you the difference between the Old and the New Testaments even if their lives depended on it, and answer the question about the existence of God with the standard dumbass "well, I think there has to be some kind of a force out there"?

all right, i admit it... i'm upper middle class, white, and weird (psychotic depression will do that...)

what i'm not: retarded (i'm in college, doing my bachelor's, aiming for the master's in history, and minoring in sociology, and i've already got a bachelor's in english litterature), spiting my parents (dad's atheist, mom's antitheist), and along with my academic studies i am a guitarist, death metal vocalist, have both a death metal and punk rock band, enjoy LARPs and tabletop rpgs, hardcore pc and console gamer, an avid learner, and quite the socialite, not to mention being a medieval martial arts student...

i don't want to be great. my private dream is holding the world record for being the loudest guitarist on the planet. it's a pipe dream, but at least it's more credible than your deity.

oh, and i'm not angry. bitter about meatbags being lumped in the same category as human beings, however...

all in all, not bad for a 22 year old guy, don't you think?

You know, the whole you became an atheist to spite whoever really pisses me off. I have a fundy mother. She does not even know I am an atheist. Hell I even tried to become more fundy and religious to make my mother happy. I started going to religious events more and more. However whenever the circular debates about scripture started up I would sit back and read the bible, like a good christian. Know what, reading the bible taught me, what I happened to notice when I read it properly? It was that it is a book written by men to control other men. Knowing that the bible the only foundation of Christianity was not in any way the divinely inspired word of god. Without the bible, all Christianity is, is a continuation of those old mens control over people.

Once I noticed that, along with general rational thinking and educating myself about the world and the religions in it, I could only conclude that there is no significant godlike entity.

Oh and we are angry and bitter because of assholes like you who berate us whenever the opportunity arises. We are quite happy people when you fundies are not around to annoy us.

As like to say:
If you read the bible a little you become a moderate.
If you read the bible a lot you become a zealot.
if you read the bible properly you become an atheist.

Why didn't anyone present me with riches when I turned from agnostic to atheistic? Sure, compared to some dalits, or street children in third world countries I'm immensely rich.

My parents don't care what religion or lack thereof we have, as long as we are sincere in our belief or atheism. They would be angrier if we feigned a belief to please them or someone else.

I don't deny God, I find no evidence for the existence of ANY gods.
Learning more about what the Bible says, and how some Christians act, that's what made me turn from agnostic to atheist.

Fundies often seem to have a problem with the idea that atheists lack a belief in ALL gods, that we see nothing special in their god in particular.

Just 10%? Yesterday I went to a talk in which the speaker asked if people would mind indicating their religious beliefs (this is Britain, so of course he asked politely!). As best as I could tell from where I was sitting, a total of three-quarters of people in the hall put their hands up for the questions asked, and I'd estimate that one third indicated they had some sort of religious belief, one third were agnostic and one third atheist.

Naturally my own measure is only anecdote, but I'd say that those proportions correspond with my own experience of what family, friends and acquaintances have said when the subject has come up. But it could be different. Of course we're not in the habit of pushing the subject in other people's faces, or of intruding on a person's private beliefs.

I have no faith in God, but i’m not faithless. I haven’t cheated on my wife in 40 years, for example.
