Bill Would Let South Carolina Secede Over Guns

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina debated seceding from the Union more than 150 years ago, a decision that ultimately led to the Civil War. Now, the topic has come up again, amid a national debate over firearms and gun rights.
A trio of state House Republicans on Thursday quietly introduced a bill that would allow lawmakers to debate seceding from the U.S. "if the federal government confiscates legally purchased firearms in this State."
The measure sponsored by Reps. Mike Pitts, Jonathon Hill and Ashley Trantham has no real chance this session. The deadline for bills to move from one chamber to the other is April 10.

Let's make the argument about "legally owned", not "legally purchased". The law should be changed to assure regular review of gun ownership, and those who have shown themselves to be violent, angry, demented, habitually drunk, careless, or senile should have their gun rights revoked.

Don't forget, those are the same guys who tried to tell us that:
- The secession had nothing to do with slavery although the confederates explicitely said so themselves.
At this point I think that they actually believe in this fantasy history. And it's making me quite angry that such extreme intellectual fraud is so widespread already.

There are liberals in South Carolina, including me. If you're going to act like that there are no progressive establishment in SC (which there is, as College of Charleston shows) or that anyone intelligent in the state should just leave and forget about their desire to make think better in their home state, you're just going to make an ass out of yourself.

Nameless Coward- I have yet to see any evidence of liberals, progress, or anything resembling higher education in the state of SC. You simply claiming they exist does not mean they do. But if you feel so slighted by a stranger's observations, perhaps you should do something productive & try to drag your state into the 21st century. You have your work cut out for you. Those of us up here in the NE have enough on our plate trying to undo the political damage done by the majority of the citizens in your region.
2 final things-I'm in NJ, so I'm well aware of what it's like to be lumped in with assholes, assholes of far greater magnitude than me. I can assure you, they exist. Do not try to play the "you don't know what it's like" card.
I suspect that your definition of liberal varies from mine.
