Again with this site.. how are all of you?
I have no excuses this time, so I'll just reply. Science =/= Evolutionary theory. Science has done much, no arguing that, but has the theory of evolution really improved your lives? I'm interested in your responses. Something more interesting than telling me to kill myself or insulting me or my ignorance of science.

You're confusing your definitions of science and religion - using one's purpose to explain the other doesn't work. Science isn't meant to improve people's lives, though it absolutely has countless times.
That said, this isn't particularly fundie. Not virulent enough, I suppose.
Because this is a continuation of his "Christian creationism saved my soul, but evolution has no use" argument. That's why he's a Fundie.
And maybe it's the fact that basically all levels of biology are connected with evolution? Cellular mutation, behavioral adaptation, ecosystems influencing development, etc.
You shame one of my favorite animes. -_-.
Also, for someone who was so interested in the response, you seem to enjoy completely ignoring all the examples of benefits that were given to you in that last comment area. What's that called again? It's on the tip of my tongue...oh yeah! WILLFUL IGNORANCE.
This guy is definately a Fundie. I maintain that even if I'm the only one to do so.
Well, it is true that the entirety of science doesn't boil down to evolution. But, evolution does fall completely in the realm of science. In a Venn diagram, science is the big circle, and evolution is a little circle that lies entirely inside the big circle of science.
What has [the knowledge of] evolution done for us? It allows us to use in vitro and animal models in developing medicines, saving human lives. Evolution allows us to understand how drug resistance develops in pathogens and provides a possible means for overcoming it (there's a method currently being explored involving drug interactions to make selection favor non-drug resistant strains of bacteria while treating the disease, but it's still early in study). Evolution provides necessary understanding of genetics and development that will be necessary to one day cure and prevent deadly or otherwise horrible genetic diseases and birth defects that otherwise remain untreatable. Understanding selection mechanisms is important for treating and eventually curing cancers. Understanding mutation is necessary to develop effective vaccines for viruses like various flu strains and AIDS. Evolution is the foundation that makes the rest of biology make sense.
Now (and I say this to anyone who thinks their brand of creationism should replace evolution), why do you hate people so much that you wish to take away the most important bit of biological knowledge we have for making better all human lives (including your own) just so you can prop up ancient fairy tales that should have been abandoned long ago?
Obviously the theory of evolution doesn't help people quite as directly as say chemistry, but that doesn't mean it's useless. It still contributes to understanding how the world works, which is a good thing. Particularly it relates to genetics biology in general, which obviously have practical applications (medicine).
If you want to look at some useless "science", try Intelligent Design. It's just a bunch of weak arguments against evolution and doesn't offer anything new or tell us anything about how the world works. Even if it were correct, it would still be useless.
Even if evolution hasn't personally improved my life in any meaningfull way, that does not mean it isn't true.
The discovery of planets in other solar systems has not directly affected my life in any way. That does not mean those discoveries are invalid, useless or wrong.
If the theory of evolution is false, how can you explain AIDS?. It was transmitted from monkeys to humans. If we hadn't a common ancestor, the transmision would not be satisfactorily explained(and science couldn't have found the source of AIDS). Or how do you explain the testing of anti-biotics in animals which are genetically related to us(it all started with the idea that certain groups of animals had a common ancestor)?
Has theory of gravity done something to your life?, has theory of conservation of matter done something to your life?. Maybe you should think that theories describe reality AS IT IS, not how reality should be.
Ishida:
You keep your poison away from us and we'll keep our knowledge away from you.
Evolution is science. The fundie claims to the contrary are lies.
The big bang is science. The fundies who equate it with evolution are lying.
It's like saying metallurgy is the same as driving skills because cars are made of metal.
The theory of evolution guided the breeders of plant and animal crops to produce the
hyperproductive food sources we have today. The theory of evolution tells us if you don't take
all your antibiotic pills and don't skip a day you will produce a new variety of
bacteria and your pills won't work the next time. Sadly too many people,
ignorant of evolution, didn't use those invented by science pills correctly and now we have
multiple antibiotic resistant diseases.
Is that interesting enough for you? That ignorance of evolution can kill you?
Even better, it is not your own ignorance that will kill you, but the ignorance of the
other people who used antibiotics wrong.
This is why I want you to die, because your dedicated willful ignorance can kill me.
And this is how I want you to die. I want you to die from the lack of benefits
produced by evolution. You don't get any antibiotics. You don't get any modern
food crops, just what you find laying around in the woods. You don't get any vaccines
because 1: viruses evolve to defeat previous vaccines
and 2: the immune system works on the principles of evolution to create
antibodies from the vaccine.
You can't fly in an airplane that uses GE engines because GE used genetic algorithms
to evolve engine designs. It seems that a tornado sweeping through a junkyard
can at least make a jet engine, if not a whole 747.
You can't use natural gas in your house because gas companies use geneic algorithms
to control their interstate distribution systems. Yes, even the gas that heats your house and cooks your food depends on the priciples of evolution to benenfit you.
Get a science book and learn something (and no, those fundie books
about evolution are not science books.) and if you won't, die of hunger, cold and disease
the way people did before science(and that includes evolution) came to our rescue.
Creationism did not save my soul, Jesus did. Do not put words in my mouth. The story of creation is only a part of the bible, the bible is a book. It does not save my soul, an act of God is what did that. I will look into your evolution, but for now I remain a skeptic and a "fundie" because I believe the scriptures. But I'm too cowardly to kill myself, so come do it for me or something, but watch out, they may declare me a martyr, and that may hurt your ears. Thanks for the info of the advancements the evolutionary theory caused.
Without evolution, I would be an ignorant bronze-age goatherd.
Science and its derivative technologies ARE EVIDENCE OF HUMAN EVOLUTION in terms of intelligence. What is Intelligence? It is the evolved attribute which saves us from the biological necessity of growing claws, fangs, venom glands, etc.
I anticipate the physical evolutionary phase when humans develop, for example, longer fingers with better articulation to the joints. We do not really need to do that, as we have evolved, through our intelligence, the extrinsic tools necessary for the function.
The down side to this, of course, is that we have become much too dependent upon technology for our survival, imo.
"but has the theory of evolution really improved your lives?"
What is this preoccupation with 'improving your life'? If something is true, every honest person will want to believe it, even if it does not help them at all. If something is not true, no honest person will want to believe it, even if it is very helpful.
Creationism did not save my soul, Jesus did. Actualy he didnt,
I will look into your evolution, Its not mine, its everyones and no-ones.
but for now I remain a skeptic and a "fundie" These are two diametricly opposed concepts. One cn be either skeptic OR a fundie, But not both
But I'm too cowardly to kill myself, I suggest you get help with that death wish, Life is not a bad or scary thing. You ought to try embracing it for a change.
so come do it for me or something Why?
but watch out, they may declare me a martyr, Or a scared kid with a deathwish
and that may hurt your ears. How?
.
Ishida:
"I will look into your evolution, but for now I remain a skeptic and a "fundie" because I believe the scriptures. "
You are not a skeptic, you are a fundie. A skeptic bases his opinion on observable reality. You ignore observable reality when it conflicts with your bronze age creation myth. The fundie noise machine, in giving you a false definition of skeptic, has lied to you again. And you fell for it again.
Dear Ishida,
Creationism =/= proof. Claiming God did everything is not proof. To answer your second question..Medicine. Case closed.
Finally, don't say that blind faith is better than science.
Don't know, probably has helped someone somewhere sometime along history. But it is not "creationism" that I say helps people. It is the gospel, the good news. Genesis is a part of that. And well, you cannot deny that the gospel has helped people, even if just the charity it has spawned.
Well, I can say the Bible has done far more bad than good, but I won't pursue it because you seem like a nice person. No, that's not sarcasm.
I don't claim to be a scientist, so how am I an insult to science? Science was made for man, not man for science, wouldn't you agree?
Being well-versed in evolution before we got to it in science class raised my grade, once! So yes. (I was in fifth grade. Bringing home a good report card meant ice cream.)
And honestly, what's wrong with believing in evolution? I'm Christian, and I don't think science is the polar opposite of religion. Something had to happen to start the Big Bang, why not some kind of deliberate nudge? And after that, why couldn't God change his creations slowly over time as he thoughts of variations and improvements? Like software upgrades, in a way. XD
Evolution has improved the field of medicine repeatedly. I am not a medical researcher, so I don't have the exact data. Ask a scientist.
Evolutionary principles have also been used to improve electrical designs. A program was written to "evolve" circuitry, testing out various random adjustments, and determine whether they were efficient. Several classic designs evolved out of random circuitry, as well as new, more efficient designs noone had yet discovered.
Read about it in Sci Am.
Science and Evolution Might not have a direct link. But it is through evolution, we learn to adept to the surroundings quickly. Evolution might deplete out basic instincts of wild life survival but "survival of the fittest". We human beings have to survive in this harsh life style, not just blending into the nature. Sure, "everything is redundant when death is inevitable" and even through evolution we still couldn't survive well. But I'd say that, it is through evolution, human's brain starts to develop and grow. Thus, we have our smart intelligent human beings, to develop this scientifical artificial society.
After all, good or bad, it is up to people themselves to decide, but do remember, sometimes being too extreme or bias towards an opinion is definitely not good for anyone of us.
Has religion really done anything good in your life that you couldn't do without it?
You seem to misunderstand the meaning of science too, the theory of evolution is science because it is based off scientific facts. What else would it be?
Also, kill yourself you science ignorant fool
