"In secular public schools, history is taught from a godless perspective. Events in history are not explained as miracles or interventions of gods. The course of history is not described as the expression of divine will and leading to the culmination of any divine plans. Instead, events in history are described as the actions of humans; the course of history is described as the outgrowth of human actions and human institutions."
Indeed. Certainly since 2005, via Kitzmiller vs. Dover. This case was found for the plaintiffs by Judge John E. Jones III. A Conservative Christian. Who personally appointed Judge Jones to the Federal bench? President George Dumbya Bush. A Conservative Christian who promotes Creationism. Who was it who voted in George Dumbya Bush - twice? Repubicans. The Religious Right. Neocons. The likes of you, whoknows.
The precedent set in Kitzmiller vs. Dover means that teaching 'Intelligent Design' (and thus Creationism) is now illegal and unconstitutional in all accredited educational establishments in the US. And it's all your fault. Ultimately, the educational agenda of the Religious Right was destroyed by the Religious Right themselves. In doing so, you've helped the cause of Atheism in America in ways that not even we Atheists could've imagined. And there's not one fucking thing you can do about it now.
Ah, the irony is exquisitely sweet, is it not? 'Hubris'. Learn that word. It could save your life.
@Anonymous Tau
"Even the most whacked out fundie knows that humans have an effect on history."
Kitzmiller vs. Dover proves that fundies don't. Certainly their own actions, ultimately.
"Otherwise what is their free will?"
To ultimately destroy themselves (as proved above) in the perpetual P.R. traincrash that is right-wing Fundamentalist Christianity (Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Faggard, Becky Fischer, Fred Phelps & co, Sarah Failin et al). And we Atheists don't have to lift a finger.
