What do you do, as a Christian, when you have a co-worker who dresses what I consider immodestly at the workplace? I've already confronted management about it last year and they thought what she was wearing was fine. I'm not sure if the lady is a "professing" Christian or not. Wearing black outfits/clothes all the time and tight fitting clothes to boot I do not consider modest, but immodest. There are also other co-workers who wear low cut tops that are not appropriate either.
I'm at a loss for words what to do. My mind struggles with these thoughts and I try to put them out of my mind as quickly as possible, not to mention meditating upon Scripture, changing my thoughts etc. It is very difficult.
I will try to witness to her when I get the chance. (I know she has already taken one of my gospel tracts). Not to mention management may move me to a desk right next to her...

You grit your teeth and bear it or quit.

So...sexy goths are going to hell?
I'd love it if people I worked with dressed like that. That dark kinky stuff is hot. And just because the lady doesnt cover her arms and legs like the sun will burn her to the ground, doesnt mean its immodest. However, it does mean she's comfortable with her body, so leave her the piss alone.

Well, as an atheist, I can't speak to the Christian bit, but as to the rest?
Ignore them and worry about doing MY OWN DAMNED JOB.
You should try it.

You keep your f***ing mouth shut and get on with what your boss pays you for. No one gives a s*** about you or about your notions of what passes for "modest" female clothing.

Maybe she wears black all the time because she's in mourning for your dead or MIA libido. Just to clue you in: tight clothes on attractive women at work is one of those little bonuses that makes going to work bearable.

Enjoy the view, I know I would
"...I do not consider modest, but immodest."
So you understand the concept of opposites then, thats good.
"I will try to witness to her when I get the chance."
So we should expect to hear from you soon complaining about being fired for 'witnessing' to a fellow employee and how unfair it is.
(As a side note, I think I should invest in this whole 'gospel tract' business, that looks like easy money)
Why do you think you have to do something about it?
Like others have said, worry about doing your job.
Keep your dick in your pants and your eyes on your paperwork.
I can see it now, right after his first attempt to witness to her.
"I'm afraid we're going to have to let you go. Miss So-and-so says that you keep staring at her, making her uncomfortable, and now you're trying to push your religion on her."
The poster witnessing in a work setting? That would be just as much of a distraction, if not more. evjr wouldn't have to worry about getting a desk right next to her since chances are they will be too busy looking for another job.
If management was concerned about the dress code of the office, they would have approached those in violation of the code and asked them to dress more apropriately.
Well, ya have a few choices.
A) Live and let live. My personal favorite.
B) Give the offending Lady a burka and if she refuses to wear it, stone her.
C) Do as Jesus said and gouge your eye out. Seems the most Christian thing to do is what your Christ said to do.
evjy should move to the middle east. He'd like all those burkas.
Except they're often black.
But I'd give it a low fundie rating as the replies are relatively sane for a RR thread.
Fortunately, social acceptability isn't based on your dumbass measure of modesty.
Who do you fucking fundies think you are, anyway?
Yeah, 'cause black clothing is so un-christian. As evidenced by ALL THE NUNS...
(no wait, they're catholic, so they're evil anyway)
What's the matter? She turned you down cold. If management has no issue with her wardrobe, tough kahoogies if you don't like it. Don't look
Word up: if you try to proselytize at work, get ready for a charge of harassment and with luck, getting fired too.
You see this is a problem, but God wants you to see it as an opportunity to witness to your faith. Gouge out your eyes with a letter opener! Then you can't see this foul temptress. Cut your hand off using the paper shredder! Then you can't masturbate while thinking about her. You could go a step further and cut off your genitals too.
You thought you had a problem, but it turns out it is only another opportunity to live as a joyful, blind, handless, sexually mutilated Christian.
It is none of your business what your co-workers wear to work. It is obviously not an issue with your boss, so your opinion isn't worth squat. No one cares what you think.
If I worked with someone like you it would be so much fun. Taking the tracts and rewritting them to make them make sense and putting them back on your desk. Then, you could either complain to the boss, but open yourself up for the same ridicule (since you handed out the damn tract in the first place, without it being requested) or you'd have to just shut up.
You strike me as the kind who would shut up at work but then go to a message board and bitch.
"What do you do, as a Christian, when you have a co-worker who dresses what I consider immodestly at the workplace?"
Enjoy it! (Or get a new job.)
If we can be serious here, it is a bitch that you can't help giving a look every now and then.
Those of you who are capable of ignoring it should check your pulses by the way.
Why not just bring her a burka and tell her that this is what all good moral women wear.
If you're going to get fired, you might as well get fired in a big way.
@ Frank
No problem with looking and enjoying and keeping your hands/thoughts to yourself. The problem is when they look, decide it's the womans fault that they're lusting for her, and then decide she needs to be corrected for their lustful thoughts.
what do you do, as an intelligent human being, when you have a co-worker who is just a complete dumbass and tries to control how you dress? Maybe if I wear sluttier clothes, management would be more likely to give me a promotion so I can get out of this creep's department...
Sounds like you need to work where everyone covers themselves with hazmat suits. Try a nuclear testing facility or a Devo tribute band. (Oh, right, the "Whip It" outfits... okay, nukes it is, then.)
If management is fine with what she's wearing, it's none of your business. At my former workplace, everyone was dressed mostly in black suits or suit-like skirts. When a lot of us were moving, like going to a meeting or something, we looked like funeral home employees on parade.
What you ought to do is to mind your own business and don't bother yourself with what others are wearing, as long as they are wearing clothes. If someone shows up for work stark naked, or wearing just underwear, THEN you can get all hot and bothered. OK?
Thank you for destroying your right to think about complaining, when someone complains about you - or any other fundie Christain - wearing a cross in the workplace.
If you're that strict about dress codes...!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
