[After the murder of Matthew Shepard became national news.] I worked with a lot of homosexual guys back then. They were all terrified that they were going to be killed. I corrected that idea! Told them about the statistics of Christians who lose their lives for their faith. And all they had in the entire history of mankind was one measly person. And they were afraid because of that? I told them if Christians wanted them dead they were going to have to come up with more than one dead person to convince me.

What an idiot. Gay Bashing is real, it happens somewhat frequently, and it is a terrible, terrible thing. Christians in America arn't persecuted at all.

I'm a high school student doing research for a literary paper on hate crimes and to read what is written above is horrible. persecution is not just death it is the taunting and nagging and pain felt because you are different as well. I am a christian and people like this give us a bad name. Christian should preach Jesus and Jesus is love, where is the love because i don't see it. oh and for the record, here are some other hate crime victims:
How about Oscar Wilde? Yes, they didn't technically kill him, but he was arrested and sent to prison, where he eventually died of disease.
And how about this - the Holocaust? Jews weren't the only people that the Nazis targeted. Hitler ordered homosexuals to be sent to the camps as well, complete with pink triangles on their clothes instead of yellow Stars of David.
So, no, Matthew Shepard wasn't the only one or the first to be killed for being gay. And if people continue to be hateful and bigoted, I'm afraid that he won't be the last.

You forgot about the gays Hitler killed during WWII and those who were tortured to death in the Inquisition. Let's also not forget those put to death in countries like Iran, Sudan, Yemen and Zimbabwe under leaders like Ahmadinejad and Mugabe.
