[Another fundie has shared an article about rising carbon dioxide levels.]
This whole CO2/man caused global warming thing is pure hokum. I'm an environmental engineer and I have yet to see any credible links to CO2 and man caused global warming. Al Gore and the media have glommed onto this ridiculousness and have completely bamboozled the public at large. If you want to see the real "cause" of cyclical global temperatures simply look at the sun..it's as simple as that. Sadly, SO many people have been duped into believing that carbon (CO2) is causing all the catastrophic global weather. Because so many have been duped they actually think that they, as exhalers of CO2, are part of the problem; their "carbon footprint" must be reduced to help solve the problem. It's unadulterated balderdash! The door has been kicked open for environmental regulators to control what we all do by legislating fossil fuel usage. It's just a matter of time before we're all paying a carbon tax to help mitigate our share of the problem that we're causing. This is just one more way a math/science-ignorant public are getting duped and led down the primrose path. As Christians, for us to believe this malarkey is to believe that God wasn't smart enough to anticipate the mass balance of critical elements like oxygen, Carbon, and the like. Are we really to believe that God's creation is somehow out of control and that he blew it in His design for all that He knew He Himself would allow mankind to learn vis a vis technological advancements? Are we really to believe that the very gas that green plants need to survive and photosynthesize O2 for us is actually a pollutant? Really? Unbelievable!! Don't believe the lie!! Just take a look at how radical environmental regulations are damaging the agricultural economy of California. Unreal!!! This is all about the radical environmental movement on the left to further destroy America by making it nearly impossible for manufacturers to be competitive, not to mention building new power plants. Have environmental regulations improved our air, water, and land? Yes! But it's out of control and being used as a weapon against American capitalism, our economy, and freedoms. The whole man caused global warming bologney was shown to be hokum several years ago but appears to be re-emerging. What we're seeing on the earth regarding the earth's ecological systems appearing to be coming apart at the seams is nothing but prophecy playing out right before our eyes.

Yup, he did.
"This whole CO2/man caused global warming thing is pure hokum. I'm an environmental engineer and I have yet to see any credible links to CO2 and man caused global warming."
Then you're a shitty environmental engineer, assuming you aren't lying about that.
"Environmental Engineer"
He cleans toilets.
"I'm an environmental engineer and I have yet to see any credible links to CO2 and man caused global warming."
Right off you got it wrong to the point of discrediting yourself. There is no question that excessive carbon dioxide is a "greenhouse gas." The controversy is whether humans are pumping so much CO2 into the atmosphere that we're causing the problem.
"I'm an environmental engineer ... carbon (CO2)"
That's carbondioxide - not carbon. Jesus fucking Christ I didn't even take Chemistry and I know that's wrong. I'm really questioning that claim.
"It's just a matter of time before we're all paying a carbon tax to help mitigate our share of the problem that we're causing."
Works.
"Are we really to believe that God's creation is somehow out of control and that he blew it in His design for all that He knew He Himself would allow mankind to learn vis a vis technological advancements?"
Math > Faith
Al Gore and the media have glommed onto this ridiculousness and have completely bamboozled the public at large.
I doubt very much that scientists in Europe, Asia, or anywhere else outside of the US, all of whom are very adamant about the grave danger of anthropogenic global warming, could give a cold shit about what Al Gore has to say about the global climate. But then again these RR people don't realize that anything exists outide of the US.
It's really telling how two large topics are covered by fundamentalist religions'
1) Climate change denial
2) Worship and obedience to the rich
Neither of which is in your theology. It's telling because it's in Dominionist Dogma too, it's far-right money flowing to the tools to indoctrinate them into yet more false beliefs and behavior demands, from God they say yet.
What happened to the saving of souls, spreading the message of love that you claim is your mandate and mission? It's becoming real obvious who your masters really are.
Mentioning Al Gore in a climate change debate is like mentioning Hitler somewhere else. There needs to be something like Godwin's Law to denote this.
Basically the same rules apply, anyone who mentions Al Gore automatically loses the debate and the conversation is officially over.
Just to take on a part of the PRATT; the sun is not causing global warming. The period of the fastest warming coincides with steadily dropping solar output as the sun approached a 100 year low.
Plus, not that I believe his claim, environmental engineering would be a very strange career choice for a fundy who believes God is controlling the environment.
@pete "The period of the fastest warming coincides with steadily dropping solar output..."
Also, if you look at the pattern of warming, it tends to be at the poles and at night. If it were due to increased solar radiation, you would expect to see just the opposite.
Our Environment Minister would like a word with you; after a COBRA meeting a little while back, he said that Climate Change is now a proven threat to state security.
Afterwards, he'll proceed to feed you to the people of the south/south-west of the UK. I'm sure these mainly Conservative people will have their more than infinite rage - due to the storm/high tide-based floods that part of my country experienced - at their homes/businesses etc ruined (No Xmas for them ! [/Christ mas Nazi]) assuaged somewhat, by you being torn apart by them.
'American Capitalism', you say? You may now proceed to compensate all the businesses affected/bankrupted in that flood here in the UK , if you value your 'argument', Ruptured Retards.
If you're an environmental engineer, then I'm the Empress of China.
It's not the exhaling of CO2 by humans that's the big problem, nitwit, but the "exhaling" from factories, huge farms and large collections of cows, in combination with the devastation of the rainforests.
Reading this made me want to stab myself in the face...a lot. But then all the comments made me laugh until I peed a little. Thank you all for being awesome. And seriously, 1934 is on the phone, it wants it's terminology back. Bamboozled, balderdash, malarky, etc. WTF.
Yeah, here in California we do our best to destroy the agricultural economy. So that farmers can grow water-intensive crops such as cotton in our mostly rainless central valley, we send much of our water to agriculture as the delta fouls and birds, fish and other creatures die. Global warming will only make it worse. Thanks, rapture retards.
If this guy is an environmental engineer, I'm the Rajah of Maraputna ... he probably means he's a trash collector or sorter at the recycling center. Plants are generally limited by the availability of nitrogen. They usually have all the CO2 they need. The oceans absorb CO2 and now contain so much of it that they're almost effervescent. And the plants can't use the CO2 that's above them where it's creating the greenhouse effect anyway. Follow the money: the bamboozler is the energy industry, who's the only one that has a financial stake in denying climate change.
Which is it? Hokum? Balderdash? Malarkey? WHICH? ARE YOU TRYING TO CONFUSE ME? FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN! THESE THINGS MATTER! Should I buy Hokum on the Futures Market? Should I dump my Parker Bros. stock and buy Mattel, maker of Balderdash? Should I sell my Malarkey before the market gets saturated? How am I supposed to decide when you throw these things around like they're interchangeable! YOU BASTARD!
"the very gas that green plants need to survive and photosynthesise O2 for us is actually a pollutant?"
Ozone protects us from UV light, but in the troposphere it is a major ingredient of photochemical smog.
Also, water intoxication.
There's no definitive list of good substances and bad substances.
I can see how you think to the contrary, re. your "with us or against us" morality and black-and-white view of the world.

Invornmental eNjeneer, and now I are wun.
That's a very good point and I expect vbf to offer credible evidence of Bible God's existence any day now, which will then validate vbf's theories. I do hope that vbf doesn't treat the matter in as cavalier a fashion as he treats the Whooshfest, regarding the presentation of compelling evidence.
"Are we really to believe that God's creation is somehow out of control and that he blew it in His design for all that He knew He Himself would allow mankind to learn vis a vis technological advancements?"
Remember that one time in the Old Testament where God fucked up and hit the reset button via flood? For fucks sake, if your going to argue for your ignorant bronze age ideology, at least know the basics of said ideology.
sure you're an environmental engineer, just like the left cheek of my ass is a neurosurgeon.
Give it up, go home and watch TV, because no one else believes you.
"I'm an environmental engineer"
Hi. I'm an astronaut.
"Are we really to believe that the very gas that green plants need to survive and photosynthesize O2 for us is actually a pollutant?"
Suck on an exhaust pipe and find out.

Al Gore did not invent the internet to spread such idiocy and misinformation, okay.
If this guy is an environmental engineer he has to be the worst one that ever lived. Carbon is not the same as carbon dioxide. People exhaling CO2 is not a factor causing global warming. Yes, even though plants exist greenhouse gasses are still a pollutant. Shocking, I know.
Okay, so, if man made global warming is a fraud then why are current reputable studies still telling us that it is a real threat? Oh, it's because gawd? Yeah, totally logical conclusion.
"It's just a matter of time before we're all paying a carbon tax to help mitigate our share of the problem that we're causing."
Wait, so environmentalists, "going green," and environmental regulations to control pollutants have helped us, but they're still actually destroying us? Also logical. Who needs clean air when you can breath freedom? Why should we pay a tax that would aid us all because we are all part of the problem? We've been duped! Bamboozled!

So tell me why the "radical environmental movement on the left" actually want to "destroy America"....
Also, you're about as much an "environmental engineer" as my dog. Probably less so.
"Are we really to believe that the very gas that green plants need to survive and photosynthesize O2 for us is actually a pollutant?"
YES! At levels such as 8 billion tons per year while at the same time polluting and destroying the mechanisms that remove the CO2, yes it is a pollutant.
Just as pure O2 can kill a person.
It shouldn't be hard to understand that a property of CO2 is that it traps heat and when we are pulling CO2 that has been trapped underground for millions of years out and releasing it into the atmosphere while at the same time destroying the natural mechanisms used to convert that CO2 that it will warm the planet.
I have a strong suspicion that you are not an environmental engineer. If you are than you have allowed ideology to cloud your judgement as well as your duty.
Confused?
