Funny you ask this. My husband and I have a friend that we were debating whether she was saved or not. Hubby said yes because she's always said she was Christian, I said no. I had a feeling she believes her "good works" are what will get her into heaven. So, one time when we were at her house, I somehow brought up Jeffrey Dahmer (the serial killer that ate his victims). I said that the story was that he was saved when he was in prison, so we would see him in heaven. Then I told her Mother Theresa may not be in heaven if those letters she wrote that questioned Jesus were true. Well, our friend just about had a heart attack!
So now, that's my new test to see if people really understand grace and salvation. Tell them that Jeffrey Dahmer may be in heaven and Mother Theresa may not. The way they react really shows what they believe.

Any moral person would.
Is Ghandi burning in hell too?
I'll bet it's not a Poe. I got a similar "lesson" from my youth pastor back in the day. And it's true--I did show what I believed, 'cause I said goodbye to the group the very next week!
If these people are right about the afterworld, I have no fear of hell. Not only did I grow up in Florida, but it's obviously a much safer neighborhood than heaven.
Here's the thing
Aren't you supposed to be good to get into heaven?
I mean really good, not last minute good?
You guys have fun with Dahmer.
I sure hope that God will forgive you and your husband for presuming to take his place and judge who is worthy of heaven and who is worthy of hell. You people at Rapture Ready remind me of the Pharisee in the parable of the "Pharisee and the taxcollector in the temple" with your self-righteous arrogance, self promotion, and smugness.PS Saved is a fundie joke. Acting like an asshole then claiming you are "saved" to escape your deserts is anoutrage and a false belief. There is no "Get out of hell free card", your good works should be an attempt to emulate Jesus's words though you know you will fall short.
I had a feeling she believes her "good works" are what will get her into heaven.
No Christian believes good works without faith will get them into heaven. But only U.S. Baptists (and their numerous redneck fundie cult offshoots) interpret Luther's "faith only" crap to mean that people can do anything they want and then get into heaven on faith alone. James 2:24 says "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." Luther tried to say James was full of it ("an epistle of straw"). When that didn't work, he tried claiming that a person who acted badly didn't really have faith.
Someday, my dear 17-year-old, you will have experienced real life, and you will see how morally bankrupt and completely idiotic your ideas regarding this are. At least, I hope you will.
Thank you, just17. You have solidified my decision to remain hellbound and happy. I'd rather spend all eternity with Carl Sagan, George Carlin and Ghandi than with Jeffrey Dahmer and people like, well, those of you at Rapture Ready.
If Heaven is peopled with serial killers who went on the last-minute save, I'd really rather go to Hell with all of the nice people who didn't go for it.
Because "saved" or not, I'd still really be creeped out sharing my cloud with Jack the Ripper.
You forgot St. Peter who denied Jesus 3 times! Now then, O thou who knowest all, pray tell, where is he?
Stop being such a pretentious little twat. It doesn't matter or not if people follow your special checklist of what a Christian is supposed to be according to YOU. You have no standing to discuss such things because in your mythology, only God knows who goes to heaven or hell. You Christians make these kinds of statements all the time when the Bible is very clear that no one knows the mind of God. Egotistical jerks like you need to be put in your place and I'd be more than happy to give you the shove on your pompous ass that you clearly need if ever given the opportunity.
Reminds me of a Burns poem
"HERE lies Boghead amang the dead
In hopes to get salvation;
But if such as he in Heav’n may be,
Then welcome, hail! damnation."
I think that sums it up pretty well.
I'll make it clear for ya what I believe. Neither Dahmer, Theresa or you are going to heaven.
But, knowing that you believe that heaven is actual, physical place, the fact that you think Jeffrey Dahmer would be more deserving of eternal bliss then Mother Theresa shows how religion can warp ones sense of right and wrong. Dahmer ATE innocent people, Theresa FED innocent people but because you think Dahmer "was saved" in prison that he gets in?
I have read on here time and time again that atheists have no morals which , of course, I would and have vehemently argued against. But what good is are your morals if you can spend your entire life commiting atrocities then at the last minute repent and all is ok? Fuck you.
“My husband and I have a friend that we were debating whether she was saved or not.”
That’s not your decision, though, is it? What you’re really asking is is she agrees with your theology. God may not, so it’s possible she’s saved but you’re not.
Not sure how it’s any of your business, anyway?
“Tell them that Jeffrey Dahmer may be in heaven and Mother Theresa may not.”
And I’d say there’s just no knowing until we get there. What does that tell you?
Confused?
