If the Bible was a lie, why are there so many bibles all around the world? Why are they Translated In so many languages?

KillWhitey: I just finished American Gods (got it for my birthday) and it's soooo good.
Anyway, by that logic every book that was ever translated into different languages and is readily available around the world is "true."
Why are there so many different versions? So many different translations? So many contradictions no matter which translation you pick?
And Lord of the Rings has been translated into a lot of different languages, does that mean I should keep an eye out for Ringwraiths?
If the Lord of the Rings is fiction, why are there so many copies of it all around the world? Why is it translated into so many languages?
@Osiris and MagicalChicken, darn you you beat me too it!
"If the Bible was a lie, why are there so many bibles all around the world? Why are they Translated In so many languages?"
What a lovely non sequitur you have there.
Impressive non-sequitor!
Seriously, though. About as much of the world knows of, and has read, the adventures of Spider-man. I'd rather worship Spider-man than Jesus, personally.
Likewise, the Quran and Tao te Ching are translated into numerous languages, with the Bible barely winning. Jesus v. Muhammad v. Lao Tzu! FIGHT!
Because human beings have a near infinite ability to delude themselves?
Also because it is so much easier to hide behind religious dogma than to make the effort to find out how things really work or to take personal responsibility for their actions.
The same could be said about Quixote, Lord of the Rings, the Illiad, Shakespeare's works, etc............
To give credit where credit is due, he does stop short of actually claiming that the profusion of Bibles proves the Bible is true. So, I guess he can't rightly be accused of employing the "bandwagon fallacy". He's just asking a question.
@Antichrist
Damn right, you should keep an eye out for Ringwraiths!
They're everywhere, man! EVERYWHERE!!!
*looks over shoulder, then runs screaming for his life*
Do you honestly have to ask that question?
Ask Danielle Steele, one of the most published, translated authors of all time. She writes trash and crap and nothing of any value, but there are more of her books published and translated world wide than just about any other contemporary author.
Seriously?
Wow - so The Elder Protocols of Zion must be the Truth too... Oh wait...
-------------------------------------
Not to mention - so how many languages have the Quran and Origin of the Species been translated into?
Or Puff the fucking magic fucking dragon!
If the bible wasn't a lie how come Jesus never came back when he said he would? How come the world wasn't made in 6 days? How come there isn't a firmament, wasn't a global flood, the moon isn't a light source, angels don't exist and the world doesn't have four corners?
Do we really need to answer this? The Tao Te Ching is the second most translated book in the world, second only to the bible. Does that make it true? It's has more truth than the bible, and is much, much smaller. Just because a book is popular enough to be translated into many languages doesn't make it true, just popular. And popular doesn't automatically equal true.
"why are there so many bibles all around the world?"
Because Christians keep printing and distributing them. At least this guy didn't try the "most sold" ploy when giving them out free means most printed.
"Why are they Translated In so many languages?"
Because Christians want everyone else in the world in their club, so they print and give them away everywhere they can. I'm 52 and had recieved four of them before I left public school, I was an Atheist before I got the first one. We had Bible wars at recess once as in the little Bible was the ammo. Many more went out the bus window
Confused?
