...Essentially, they [liberals] want religious people to care less about abortion, homosexuality and gay marriage and more about poverty, war and the environment. That is, they want people to support pacifism, environmentalism and socialism-or in terms of specific policies, they want higher taxes to grow a larger welfare state, immediate withdrawal from Iraq and everybody to pay a pollution tax in the form of carbon offsets.
Or, to be even more clear, they just want voters to put Hillary in the White House....
You see, it all comes down to one's view of inerrancy. Inerrancy is the view that God is the author of every single word of the original autographs of both the Old and New Testaments, and that He superintended the human authors to compose and record without error exactly what He wanted, even down to the specific words that were used.

That last bit is entirely random, but... yeah...
What's wrong with pacifism, gay marriage, environmentalism and socialism?
First part -- I can see the headlines now: "LIBERALS WANT DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT SHOCK!"
And I think all of those things sound lovely. But it's funny how you only mentioned Hillary's policies you disagree with. She has a couple not even a dyed-in-the-wool wingnut could disagree with (although a fair few liberals certainly could).
Yea, who cares about poverty, violence, and all those other things Jesus wanted to eliminate? Everyone knows that keeping fags in their place is the ONLY issue that should matter to Christians!
Why exactly do fundies like to use the term "autograph" instead of "manuscript", anyway? If I understand Wikipedia's definition of the term, "original autograph" sounds redundant.
More fundy codewords?
ObPost: this guy doesn't pick up a Bible much, does he? I'm pretty sure Jesus wasn't a radical right-Libertarian.
I love it when fundies list all the 'EVIL' things liberals are trying to do to the world. It sounds like John Cleese's "what have the Roman's ever done for us" speech.
Oh no, the liberals what free health care for all and an end to poverty and war. Bastards.
so
2 different versions of the creation of man (and woman)
4 different gospels
and all the other irrational shit recording the goings on of a bunch of paranoid peripatetic sheep herders
and that's god's inerrant, unchangeable, final word on everything.
So why have the Xians dumped so much that is inconvenient to them (beards, fabrics, seafood, etc)
And that's why you believe that snakes speak or that it's an abomination to eat lobster?. I don't think you're being original in your views. Ok, what if they want to focus on poverty, war and environment?, didn't Jesus say "blessed the peace makers", "feed the poor" and "don't worry about what you're wearing or eating"?. And they want Hillary in the White House, of course!!, the same way you want a republican. That's called DEMOCRACY.
Inerrancy is the view that God is the author of every single word of the original autographs of both the Old and New Testaments, and that He superintended the human authors to compose and record without error exactly what He wanted, even down to the specific words that were used."
Then God needs to take a course in creative writing. His plotting is weak and his attention to continuity appalling.
The first two arguments are bad enough, but the last one is a gem. It's like saying that peanut butter is a key element to understand the Gulf War in 1991. If you take literarilly the Bible, how do you solve the contradictions it contains, specially comparing the Old and New Testament?. Moreover, how do you justify that many of the mores and truths of the Bible are no longer observed(or are you in favour of our president(?)having more than one wife(see David)?).
"...Essentially, they [liberals] want religious people to care less about abortion, homosexuality and gay marriage and more about poverty, war and the environment."
Abso-freaking-lutely!
And, there's something wrong about caring more about poverty, war and the environment than the fates of embryos and about peoples sex-lives?
Biblical inerrancy = doodoo.
"...Essentially, they [liberals] want religious people to care less about abortion, homosexuality and gay marriage and more about poverty, war and the environment."
True, they care about things that actually effect humanity.
"Inerrancy is the view that God is the author of every single word of the original autographs of both the Old and New Testaments..."
... except those parts about giving to anyone who asks, the sheep and the goats, early Christians who held all property in common, and all that liberal twaddle that contradicts what we fundies know God meant to say.
If the Bible was inerrant then it would be internally consistent and free of contradictions.
You fail on both of those counts.
The Bible is bullshit, just like your reasoning.
Remind me again who it was that took a balanced budget and ballooned it into a huge deficit on account of waging a war based on lies?
Who has allowed the infrastructure of the country to deteriorate in oder to keep waging said war?
I'll give you a clue, it wasn't a Democrat.
As a liberal, I wish to ask you to stop generalizing.
The next to last thing I want is Hillary in the white house. 8 years with her moderate republican husband was enough.
Berny: The war deficit is a myth.
The "massive tax cuts to my filthy, filthy rich friends and supporters for political gain" deficit, on the other hand...
O Rly? Then why was Jesus so pissed at the pharisees for using the word of MAN instead of the word of GOD? Seems to me that actually refutes the "infallibility" of that OT of yours there. As for the NT, most of it was taken from letters correcting the mistakes churches were having, mistakes like intolerance, forbidding people to marry, things like that. And while Revelation might make for a kick-ass anime, it follows the form of other political commentary at the time. We just use science fiction now instead of apocalyptic stories (though an apocalypse is still entertaining).
And what's so bad about ending wars, caring about the environment, and supporting the poor and needy? People want decent paying jobs, not welfare (I speak from experience here).
So basically, liberals want people to care more about issues that matter (such as war, poverty, and the health of the planet), and less about issues that don't (such as what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms)?
Sounds good to me.
It would be nice if he explained to us why, if God dictated the Old Testament and the New One, they are so different. Well, it may be because dictating it to a group of shepperds from the Bronze Age and to a more cosmopolitan and urbanite collection of quasi philosophers(the Ephesians, that is)implies many adaptations. But again, which one should we follow?, because the first part is very........well, weird, to say the greatest euphemism of my life.
My dad is completely right about this liberal conspiracy to destory our moral values in America and replace them with their socialist ones. Liberals are trying to trick good Americans into believing that nonsense such as environmentalism and homosexual rights are expressed in the Bible. How dare they use the word of God to try to advance their wicked socialist ideology.
This new deception must be met and defeated, and we must return to our proper morality as God's chosen people. Hillary and the other liberal scumbags must be defeated in 08.
"Essentially, they [liberals] want religious people to care less about abortion, homosexuality and gay marriage and more about poverty, war and the environment. Those are bad things?
as God's chosen people
You're Jewish?
No, I'm not Jewish, and Jews aren't the chosen people.
The Jews ceased to be God's chosen people after they killed Jesus and rejected him as messiah. The history of the Jews after Jesus reflects the loss of their special status.
Amerians are his chosen people now, but we might not be for long with this new virulent strain of socialism infecting us. God will allow us to suffer surely as he did with the Jews.
The history of the Jews after Jesus reflects the loss of their special status.
Your own Bible says that the Jewish people were enslaved, the Jewish babies were slaughtered, etc etc etc, all BEFORE Jesus was born. Doesn't seem like much had changed after his death, to be honest, except that a whole NEW group of humans hated them. ;)
Once again they get so close.
this one even understands the issues, but still get's it ass about.
It's funny that I'd rather have gay neighbors, attend a gay wedding or help a female friend through a tricky time than have a war, uninhabitable planet or mass crime/poverty/drug use.
Funny that we atheists are so amoral.
How dare they use the word of God to try to advance their wicked socialist ideology.
Um...last time I checked, Jesus wasn't exactly a raging capitalist. Or quite so good at a Pharisee impression as his followers seem to be.
@F. Pastore
...Essentially, they [liberals] want religious people to care less about abortion, homosexuality and gay marriage and more about poverty, war and the environment.
Yeah, talk about messed up priorities! Sheesh! [/sarcasm]
Confused?
