why is it that when I talk to evolutionist, they say Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of everything in our universe, but when I question evolution, they link me to a site called talkorigin?

Sigh, Chris...let me try and explain this to you, okay? I'll speak slowly, but if at any point, you don't understand, please stop me? Okay? Ready?
Just because it says "origin," that doesn't always mean "the origin of the universe." There are other "origins." Are you okay Chris? Has your head exploded yet?
Technically speaking, the universe did "evolve" from the Big Bang to its present state. However, that is not the same thing as the evolution of life on this planet and neither has anything to do with the other. The problem with people like BigChrisFilm, JohnR7, dad, Gottservant, et. al., is they are so used to looking at everything in the simplistic "Goddidit" mode that they cannot seperate two different concepts such as these.
joey444 -- Indeed.
BigChrissy -- The ToE is not related to abiogenesis theories. Have you noticed that when you talk to "evolutionists," they say the ToE has nothing to do with the origin of tractors, or sand, or plastic sandwich bags. There are many things which the ToE does not address.
They do it to make fun of you, so that you'll post clearly ignorant things like this and we can all sit back and point at you and laugh Seriously, that's why we do it. Just having the facts about the origin of life gets boring after awhile and we need some cheap entertainment.
We'll stop doing it once we get Kent Hovind into a jail cell equipped with a large, testosterone-overdosed cellmate and a webcam, though. I promise.
" However, that is not the same thing as the evolution of life on this planet and neither has
anything to do with the other"
In fundyland they are the same thing. Since fundies lack the mental capacity to understand anything
that doesn't resemble their mythology
they mutate anything they hear about science into
a distorted version of their mythology.
Thus, the big bang, astrophysics and TOE are all the same thing.
Chris, I'm pretty sure that the title is used in connection with the phrase "origin of species," the phrase used in the title of Darwin's book.
However, the site also addresses the topics of abiogenesis and the Big Bang as details that fundies keep trying to shoehorn in together with evolutionary theory -- so the whole subject of "origins" still applies.
And besides all that, "Argumentum ad Titlum" is meaningless! Please use your head; the TITLE of the freakin' website makes no bloody difference to the substance of the material. It could be titled "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars," and it would make no difference with respect to the actual scientific information that the website provides. If you have something to bring up in opposition to any of that scientific information , please bring it on. Don't just stop at the title of the website and think you've read enough to debunk its entire contents!

This TalkOrigin site... Is it about the Ori's Holy Book? THE "Origin"? well, in that case, the atheists are idiots for giving me that when I ask them why the Big Bang isn't covered by Evolution.
/end bad impersonation mode.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
